Cuba with teens

We're thinking of visiting Cuba next year with DSs who will be 16 and 13. They are keen on fairly active holidays rather than just lying on the beach.

Having had a quick look this morning, snorkelling and waterfalls with a bit of trekking off the beaten track sounds good with perhaps a few beach days at the end.

Does anyone have suggestions for places to go / things to do?

Also should we go in the school summer holidays in 2017 or wait and go over the Xmas holidays (2017) if the weather is so much better?

Finally any vague idea of cost range for 2 adults and 2 teens?

Any help would be much appreciated as we are at the beginning of our research.

Just seen your update sorry, yes sounds fab. Much better than a fortnight in an AI, which would be as dull as dishwater IMO.

Me again for the last time, we went about 7 years ago and I believe the independent hotel/restaurant situation has improved massively since then. Back then almost everything was either state run or foreign owned, hence open to foreigners only

Thanks all. We have to be back for GCSE results as DS is hoping to change to a different sixth form but it will be result dependent so can't go later August. I am also keen to get the earlier part of the hurricane season rather than full peak!

Glad nobody thinks it's ridiculous. DH and I have decided that we'll go through it in detail with the kids tonight when DS1 comes in. If they are keen we'll go for it, if they are not that bothered we may reconsider.

Kids loved the itinerary so going to book tomorrow 😀😀
