They have an info page on the Net here , but nothing else. Time Out mentions:

"Every Friday afternoon the centre becomes a hip disco as DJs Misty Oldland and Drew Horley mix a selection of old-skool kids' music with seventies soul and contemporary beats. Age 18 months-8 years." (Source .

and

"Brilliant Kids caters for both adults who like to get stuck in with children's art activities and those who prefer to watch from a relaxed distance. The arts centre offers classes for children aged six months to pre-teens, with no more than 15 kids per class, while parents who like to get involved can take part in sessions with their child using a variety of art materials (£5). An introductory offer of ten per cent off all summer workshops is is operation. The café, with a garden designed by Mark Lutyens, follows an ethical, carbon-neutral business model. Healthy food is served and child-sized tables and chairs are available. At the shop next door, you can trade in and buy new or nearly new baby clothes for ages 0-8, toys, baby equipment and maternity wear." Source

Just wondering if any MNers had actually been / what they thought.

Thanks.

my sister has been

she said it was full of tossers

no seriously it is VERY WEST LONDON

hub2dee · 09/02/2007 11:32

I am bored so tempted LOL. I have dd today and we did loads of snow stuff yesterday; Tales from the Shed at this Chicken Shed theatre was sold out (and is for the rest of the season !), and I am scratching my head.

Enid: What are the traits of WEST LONDONERS ??? Kensal Rise is hardly Sloaney... I was brought up in Ealing ya'know.

I face a potential afternoon dancing with 18 month olds. Somebody save me.

"Kensal Rise is hardly Sloaney"

no but it is full of trustafarians who can't afford Notting Hill (apologies to all my friends who live there )

hub2dee · 09/02/2007 11:52

Apologies to all your (trustafarian) friends, LOL.

Not sure I know anyone who actually lives there, Enid... but from what I gathered it wasn't particularly hip / rich whatever, but maybe I am desparately out of touch with changing times; I suppose I don't really know too many trustafarians either LOL.

oops - do you live there, are you hip and rich and are you a trustafarian ?

it was a shitehole when I lived in Notting hill about 10 years ago

trendy now

hub2dee · 09/02/2007 12:05

Yes, I didn't want to put it quite so bluntly, but a while back it wasn't at all 'in'.

Kensal Rise is where that woman lived who ran to the toilet and screamed with grief because her clementines had been vomited on the floor by the tornado. The one whose American walnut floating shelf was speared by a tile. The one with the tosser of a husband who did yoga and said Claridge's was the only hotel in London.

Just worth a reminder!

hub2dee · 09/02/2007 17:19

Thanks, unquiet... I had forgotten it was tornadoville.

oops - I didn't think you were serious, LOL. Is it a nice place ? Are any of the activities particualrly worth aiming for (ie. what day ?)

In the end, dd slept for 33 minutes instead of her usual fairly long nap, so I took her out on a neighbour's sled for a while and had tea with them (only met them yesterday, they have a son of a similar age).

I live near there , but it has become very much for the trendy crowd who I think have no idea what a bad area it used to be and is still to a certain extent , they mostly doddle around thinking they are in Hampstead drives me mad , but I was going to venture in one rainy Saturday day to see if dd would like the Art Class thing they do at the weeekend it looks a nice cafe, as far as I know they don't do the clothes swapping and selling anymore which was a good idea. Will report back at a later date.

SpareWheel · 16/03/2007 13:00

We went there a few weeks ago and would thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant Kids has a really nice cafe and our 2yo DD produced an A2-sized masterpiece of paint, glue and glitter from the nextdoor art room. The best thing for me was allowing DD to go a bit wild with the paint (which we won't let her do in the house), then clean her up and have a civilised lunch next door while the masterpiece was hung up to dry!

The bit about baby clothes is out of date, though - that is now where the art room is.
