NYC Recomendations for eating on Boxing Day mid price with teenagers

Travelling to NYC on Xmas day this year , super excited.We want to make sure we have booked somewhere for dinner on Boxing Day so that we don't need to worry can anyone recommend somewhere?

Any other commendations also useful , I am feeling a bit daunted 😳

December 26th is not a public holiday in that part of the US so most places will be open then.

Whereabouts in NYC are you staying?.

Not sure I would call it mid-price but if you want a great location - the Boathouse in Central Park.

They only serve dinner between the months of April and November.

Hi thanks for the rep,y sorry about the delay in replying .We are staying just off Time Sq , wouldn't' really have been first choice but we got a great deal with flights and as we won't be spending a lot of time in hotel it's fine!

Boys haven't been before and have declared they are not interested in 'fine dining' but we thought one slightly nicer meal out would be good ,also plan to do plenty of burgers , pizza , maybe a steak night etc.We are thinking we might do the fixed price lunch at the rock cafe on the day we leave as good way to end the holiday , rather than on day one when we might be tired by the evening .

Any tips on managing the cold etc would also be good

Virgils near Times Square (on West 44th Street)is a nice restaurant particularly if you like barbeque. John's Pizzeria also near Times Square is worth visiting (although you should book a table in advance as it gets very busy).

A couple of heavy sweaters and at least one medium-weight jacket or coat may suffice during the early part of this month. However, as the month progresses, more winter attire will be required, including a heavier jacket or coat with a warm hat and gloves. Warm boots may also be a good idea for any rain or snow days.

I love going with my friends and their teenage kids to Max Brenner's in Union Square (opposite the multiplex cinema). It is devoted to all things chocolate (chocolate pizza and fondue...mmm) but does burgers, salads, chicken etc:

You can't book here unless with a group of 25 people, but a fun place to go is Ellen's Stardust Diner, just north of Times Square; the wait-staff are aspiring or 'resting' Broadway actors and entertain the diners by 'impromptu' singing from popular musicals:

Nice Italian also just off Times Square. Ask for table upstairs for red checked table cloths etc. Downstairs more of a trendy bar.

Portions are huge so sharing size. Order just a couple and share and order more if still hungry - you won't be!

PLanet Hollywood was good last time we went, DH, usually the sniffiest of diners thoroughly enjoyed it. As previous posters say BD isn't a US holiday so it'll be business as usual. There are great little pizza places off the side streets of Time Square.

Breakfast at the Red Flam diner is my top tip. Also if you can get tickets go to Radio City Christmas show.
