How soon did your LOs go to the cinema

We were thinking of possibly going to the cinema with our DD who is 2.5yrs old and DS who is 5mths (who would prob just sleep on me)

How soon did you take your kids and was it successful or a disaster?

They were about 3 when I first took them. Went better than I thought, although the noise was a bit of a shock for them at first. if you go to a kids film, most people don't mind a bit of noise as they are in the same boat.

DD was 2.5 and DS was just a week or so old. He breast fed through it while DD watched most of the Wallace and grommit Were Rabbit film, she got a bit restless towards the end. Took her to see the Santa Claus movie at Christmas and she was perfect (now nearly 4)

DS was roundabout 3 I think when we took him to see The Magic Roundabout. DD is 2 1/2 and there is no way I would take her. But then it depends on the child, DD is really not into watching TV at all, has started very recently, and also likely to get scared at not much.

Took 6 mindees ranging from 3.2 to 9 to see nanny mcfee, they all sat beautifully through it , so much that the usherette (are they still called that) remarked on it, and they had sweeties for a treat and picked up all there rubbish and put it in the bin. Was really proud of them

Disater with a HUGE D! he was 3.7 and we had to leave about 20mins into the film.

He was too young and i expected too much so not his fault at all.
Conversly my mate takes her two regularly and they are 3.7 and 2.
They are fine...different personalities you see.
Good luck x

So it looks like it is possible. However DD rarely stops to watch TV for very long so I suspect a trip to the cinema may be a short one!

Is it right you have to pay for kids over 18months?

We have definitely always paid for DS.

IMO I think 2.5 yrs is too young.
I started to take my dc when they were four and a half and think this is a more appropriate age.
The soundtrack at cinemas can be very loud and overwhelming for very young children.

I took mine at about 3 years of age. Risky if younger.
