For next summer school holidays. Not fussy on dates but need

-2 bed accommodation, DH won't sleep on a sofa bed in a lounge
-flying from Heathrow, 2-3 hr flight max
-must have a view of something not just rooftops! Preferably the sea ☺
-next to a sandy beach with warm sea (rules out portugal)
-on west coast of somewhere, I need sunsets

I've been looking at Balearics but am now so befuddled I can't think straight. Have started to look around Italian, german, Austria lakes

My brains all fuzzy!

Why not get your DP to look for a holiday then?

Makemineacabsauv · 13/09/2016 22:47

There is a beautiful villa in Roda Corfu that you'd get for that price. I'll try and find a link. If you look on FB at Roda Park, Corfu they have it on there but I'll see if I can copy a link. It's fab and central to the lovely resort with a sandy beach and beautiful sunsets!

AnyFucker · 13/09/2016 22:49

West or north of Ibiza

Best sunsets ever

mrsclooneytoyou · 13/09/2016 22:54

Kefelonia

Amazing sunsets and lovely warm sea in Croatia. We went to Zadar where the sun sets over the islands. There's also an amazing sea organ (organ is played by the waves).

I think most of coastal Croatia would fit the bill though. It all faces the right way!

sacbina · 13/09/2016 22:56

Germany - around the lakes in the south

Greece - I would love it but 3 hour + flight really is pushing it with ds. That's why I was looking at Balearics....

Everything I show DH he finds some fault in. I've told him to look himself but if I leave it at that we'll be going nowhere!

I want what you want op so watching this thread!

SwedishEdith · 13/09/2016 23:07

Do you want a hotel or self-catering? Do you need to be able to walk everywhere or can you hire a car? Still think Portugal fits the bill

sacbina · 13/09/2016 23:08

Glittery - do you have the same kind of dp? 😂

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 13/09/2016 23:12

You will struggle to find a holiday if you have "the kind of dp" who leaves the organisational planning to you but then slags off everything you suggest

sacbina · 13/09/2016 23:13

Happy with either hotel or sc. Have looked at both, but 2 bedroom hotels or apart hotels either very expensive or just too not very nice.
Happy to drive but would likr to walk

Have you looked on Airbnb? Usually a cheaper way to get two bedrooms

sacbina · 13/09/2016 23:16

AF - I know 😕 which is why we've been UK based since dc and I just decide. But then it's a lot cheaper if there are things he doesn't like. This is alot of money!

Started to look on airbnb but the site annoys me. I'll have to try again

Cala vadella - Ibiza.
Beach is lovely, great little bars and restaurants and the most amazing sunsets. Lots of little beaches and coves to explore a short drive away.

AnyFucker · 13/09/2016 23:18

The trip advisor site is great for looking for specific needs like 2 bedrooms

AnyFucker · 13/09/2016 23:19

Frankie I agree that Cala Vadella is fab. Did you visit Cala Tarida just along the coast too...I stayed there and loved it

FrankiesKnuckle · 13/09/2016 23:25

Just googled it, don't think we did but it's now on my list when (not if!) we return!

I bloody love a sunset.

JacquettaWoodville · 13/09/2016 23:30

Sardinia?

SwedishEdith · 13/09/2016 23:34

Have a look at Azenhas do Mar in Portugal. Didn't stay there but the area is lovely and no complaints about the sea temperature but I don't go in it

hufflepuf · 13/09/2016 23:45

Olive Garden Apartments in Kefalonia. Maybe slightly longer than 3 hour flight but it has views of the sea, 10 minute walk to gorgeous sandy beach. Has 2 bedroom apartments and for a really reasonable price if you're happy going SC. it's up a hill but if you buy something from the loca supermarket they will give you a lift back up the hill. Honestly it's a hidden gem, just perfect! I think it's through Thomson or Thomas Cook. I always get them confused!

BarbaraofSeville · 15/09/2016 09:45

Second the Costa de la Luz recommendation. We camped in the Tarifa/Barbate/Zahara de los Atunes area, which was quiet, Spanish, amazing sunsets, views of Africa, was beautiful. You can fly to Jerez or Gibraltar.

But it sounds like your DH is making life extremely difficult. He needs to relax his expectations, put the effort in and find what meets his exacting requirements, or stay at home while you have the holiday you want.
