Heymarket in Edinburgh? And Edinburgh in general.

Looking for a short break. Found a really nice looking hotel in Heymarket, 2 mins from railstation.

How is it for a long weekend break in Nov?
Would like to take in some sights too so is it a good location for visiting places?

Haymarket.

It's 5 minutes up the road into the main shopping street, 15 minutes walk to Castle. Very central location. Not quite sure what you mean by "how it is" for a weekend break - it's November so could be cold/wet or on the other hand could be sunny/mild. Fairly quiet time of year as the Christmas markets don't start until later.

Haymarket is fine for a hotel and accessing tourist attractions. Easily walkable and also trams and buses available.

November will be fine but could be cold and wet. Bring a cosy waterproof coat and decent shoes.

Edinburgh is a lovely city to visit at any time of the year. Plenty to do and lots of nice pubs and restaurants.

I just meant is it decent in terms of places to eat, shops etc...

Like Luna said it's central, as good an area as any for a city break. Within walking distance of a number of sights, and on the bus/tram route for others. Enjoy, it is a beautiful city

We stayed in Haymarket (in the Marcure- lovely) when we visited in August. Didn't take long to walk down into the main sights.

Plenty places to eat all round that area and the shops are not too far away.

What sort of places do you like to visit?

We like librarys, galleries stuff like that

Depending on when in November you may catch the start of the Christmas markets etc.

Haymaker is pretty good to stay in and lots of places to eat on the way to the city centre.

There is a little cafe there, near the train station, called Troy. We loved it and DH still talks about the breakfast we got there over a year ago. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and their coffee looked really good.

The tram's are fairly reliable, cheap and easy to use, we got the tram down to Princes Street and back each day. Took 5 mins. Once you are on Princes Street you are readily accessible to everything, either on foot, or by bus.
