Nottingham ideas

DP and I are looking at flying from Ireland over to Nottingham for about 3/4 days. He's useless at planning stuff so I've picked it based on cheap flights and also the fact that there's a gaming museum which he will love.
Has anyone any other recommendations, will probably do the caves and the castle. Would love some not so touristy things to do as well.

Depends what you're in to! Loads of shops etc for a wander around, and some nice pubs for a 'city day'. Sherwood Forest/ the major oak is obviously popular but a pain to get to unless you have a car.

In the city centre there's the ice arena, planet bounce (giant trampoline place) bowling cinema etc.

We're pretty short on museums and the like but there's a few art places.

Oh, and 'batmans house' wolllaton hall is a lovely day trip and should be on easy bus routes from city centre too

You can have a really lovely afternoon tea at Wollaton Hall at the weekends for £15pp, but needs to be booked in advance usually (here)

Nottingham has the oldest pub in England - Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, right near the Castle, which is fun for a drink.

Restaurants I like: Baresca (spanish), Yamas (greek) and The Pelican Club (italian). Pelican Club also has live jazz Thu-Sat after 9pm.

Thanks for the replies. We won't have a car, and sherwood wouldn't really be his cup of tea.

Was thinking about doing a session of ice skating, and maybe seeing a film at the Broadway. Is it as nice as people say?

Afternoon tea sounds nice, especially since it's batmans house! Hoping to arrive early in the morning on the first day and leave late on the third day, so will Have almost three full days.

The Broadway is lovely. Wollaton House is really nice too.

The Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery is a good place to look around and not too far from the National Videogame Arcade.

Cafe Sobar on Friar Lane (near the castle) does really good food for lunch. There's usually something going on in the square to check out.

Pitcher and Piano is a nice place for a drink too. Used to be a church.
