Low Cost Holidays in administration

Haven't seen a thread about this yet.

We have (had?) a week long, all inclusive holiday booked for the very end of the school holidays. We've just found out that Low Cost Holidays have now ceased trading and are in administration.

I'm so aware that this is, for us, is a first world problem and that there are people who have lost their jobs, are stranded abroad etc but this is the first family holiday we've had in years and we're pretty upset.

Not told our 3 DCs yet.

Anyone else in the same boat (ha ha

I can't believe this is allowed to go on in this day and age! My Brother-in-law has been taken in by the LowCostHolidays group. We have done lots of research but seems to come up with the same facts. Have found a site that has lots of info on. Not sure if can post the link here? but if I cant google search the following "lowcostholidayshelp news". Hope there is a positive outcome (Not holding breath) x

So our booking still stood and our money was safe with the agent, but now our hotel is trying to charge the agent more for the rooms than we were paying through LowCost. The same rooms, same booking, same dates. That is complete profiteering in my eyes but we have our flights booked and are a bit stuck. Our agent is negotiating but if they won't price match we're going to have to pay more for our rooms.

Enjoyingthepeace · 21/07/2016 23:47

The impossible, same here. Full refund from agency but hotel not honouring price. After much negotiation, finally got it down to £500 increase. It's annoying but better than nothing. What agency did you book through? Sunshine here. I've been impressed with how the responsed to the situation.

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/07/2016 21:12

Imperial Travel, they are being brilliant really, but have to prioritise by travel date, so we've had to wait for a response. We will know in the next few days if we need to pay more.

Enjoyingthepeace · 22/07/2016 21:15

Have you considered contacted the hotel yourself?
Sunshine refunded us within 3 working days, in full. I'm surprised imperial haven't already tbh. I would contact the hotel myself to see what they're quoting if I were you

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/07/2016 21:31

Imperial hadn't paid Lowcost so still have our money and are renegotiating the booking. I'd rather leave it to them, tbh, there are 9 of us and I don't want to be in charge. :)

Enjoyingthepeace · 23/07/2016 10:22

Oh very good point!

But honestly, just quietly I would contact the hotel directly. Just to compare with what imperial are quoting you. Good luck!
