What's on around Chester suitable for a 3yo?

Dd's birthday next week so we want to go to Chester Zoo but if it rains or is cold that won't be possible. It's this Sunday we are going. Coco's in Frodsham is closed at the weekends otherwise I'd have gone there. Anywhere else in Chester area or is there a soft play nearby that we could go to to break the day up?

Going from North Wales

What about the blue planet? ... rays you can stroke, lots of marine creatures and a huge aquarium with sharks and divers complete with an overhead tunnel you glide through on a moving walkway. It's next to the Cheshire Oaks outlet not far from Chester and has a cafe and a shop.

We went there a couple of years ago and I thought it was over very quickly and was expensive to think that we were round it in a couple of hours

Why not search on www.eatandplay.co.uk - it has loads of pictures and prices as well as menus and directions - there are tons of soft plays in Chester - Have a lovely time

Pixiefish · 24/01/2007 22:17

It's hard to tell what sort of place they are from their web sites- just wondered if anyone could give me a personal recommendation

There are lots of reviews if that helps you

SpaceCadet · 24/01/2007 22:22

pixiefish, ive heard kids and co is very nice, its a fairly newish soft play thats opened near the grey hound, nice coffe area etc.
also ragamuffins in saltney is very good and they serve healthy and organic food options.
the blue planet is extremely expensive!

Pixiefish · 24/01/2007 22:24

blue Planet is 10 per head but dd goes free as she's still under 3 for a few more days Lol

We had seen kids and co but no pics on the web iste. It'll be busy Sundaya s well I should imagine with it being on a retail park. Mind you it has given me food for thought

ok

If you get stuck, Kidsguide has good listings.

If it's wet we go to Funky Monkeys on Grange Road (just off Liverpool Road), Kids and Co (on Sealand Road industrial estate, behind Kwiksave), or the Amazon on Eaton Road in Handbridge. Actually, not been to the Amazon for a bit but it used to be good.

Zoo is OK in the cold as has lots of indoor houses and still has the Frost Fair on until February, so has a skating rink and some festive stalls. Obviously not good if raining, but we went last Sunday and had a great day.

moondog · 24/01/2007 23:01

Oh stay home Pixie.
It's miles better.

BadHair · 24/01/2007 23:05

Livewires at Rossett is meant to be really good, too, but haven't got round to going yet. Might be a bit closer to N Wales for you.

Pixiefish · 25/01/2007 08:21

right will do Moondoh- yeah right

Badhair- thanks for those links,we go to the zoo quite often in the summer (we went beginnning of December for the Frost Fair) as we meet Yorkiegirl there- tis half way between both our houses

Wasn't there an ice rink at Chester zoo over Christmas?
I wish I'd gone.
Hey Pixie, have you ever been to the actual well at Holywell?
I keep meaning to.
(Doubt the kids would dig it though.)

Pixiefish · 25/01/2007 12:29

There is an ica rink at the zoo till the end of this month- or next month- can't remmeber which. Dd a bit young though.
