Train to South of France?

We have been invited to stay with friends of DH's next year, they are inland from La Rochelle. I am considering taking he train as I'd rather not drive the whole way with 3 DC aged 1-7! We would hire a car once we got there.

Has anyone done anything similar?

Am also considering a stop over in Paris either side and possibly Disney some sightseeing..

There's no flights from anywhere near us to anywhere near them so would be a major hassle with car parking and extensive travel both sides.

Whereabouts are you? Bordeaux & Bergerac both have flights from a few UK airports

& La Rochelle has flights from Bristol, Gatwick & Stansted.

(Train probably much cheaper though & definitely more fun Smile)

Look at seat61.com for everything you need to know about train travel.

I've taken the DC a few times, Eurostar from London, change in Paris or Lille. My best tip is to think about luggage. Your older ones can probably manage a small wheeled case each, but you will need a backpack if you have a buggy too, so you have free hands.
