I've found a last minute deal for me and my bf for next Thursday to turkey for £123 each it's half board in dalyan.
Would you risk it?
I'm undecided

Just got back from Turkey, flew via Antalya airport and was in Turkey when the airport attack took place. We were nervous while checking in on the way home as we felt vulnerable at that point but once past bag drop we were fine. Normal security at the airport is a lot higher than the UK. The only additional we saw were armed police doing spot checks on cars. I deliberately stayed away from the big beach resorts due to concerns about an attack just in case. The heat was too high to do anything other than mess around in the pools but that was the aim of the holiday. I loved it and am planning on returning very soon.

We came through antalya airport too

I would go to Dalyan.

I love Turkey, it's beautiful there and Dalyan is very pretty.

Hi, My mums originally from Antalya, southern Turkey. We head out for most of the summers and wouldn't hesitate to go again. Beautiful country, and always feel so safe there. It's a huge place!

Also just returned, had a wonderful holiday. The number of tourists was noticeably down though.

Creampastry · 15/07/2016 21:32

Would you still travel now?

dementedma · 15/07/2016 21:37

From a rational scientist's point of view:

The risk of something bad happening in the Turkish Med beach resorts is probably much lower than the Syrian border area and Istanbul.

And even if it did, 99%+ of people holidaying in the Turkish beach resorts this summer will probably have a trouble free holiday.

It would be interesting at the end of the summer to look at what has happened between now and then. Statistically it is likely that the chance of surviving a Turkish beach holiday will be higher than driving to the airport in the UK and possibly that going to Turkey this summer will be safer than France.

I probably wouldn't go to Turkey but only because I like Spain and Malta and also want to give Greece and Portugal a try so have a list of at least 10 holidays to those areas to get through first. If in 5-10 years time I am bored of those places I might look at Turkey but the main thing that puts me off Turkey is the longer flight time not fear of terrorism

I take it you haven't checked the news recently, Barbara.

Hulababy · 16/07/2016 09:09

I wouldn't have before but definitely not now.
Currently at Gatwick and there are are queues of people at Turkish airlines - all the flights seem to have been cancelled in and out, lots of stressed people

ConfusedDotty · 19/07/2016 19:00

Yep, off there in August. I have family, friends and property there so not really much choice. Being in Turkey doesn't worry me, airport, that's a different story.

Hersetta427 · 20/07/2016 10:10

We are going in August too. Nothing has changed in the tourist resorts on the Aegean coast.

PinkyPlumet · 20/07/2016 10:16

Nope.
