Please recommend a non commercialised resort abroad

Can anyone please recommend a resort abroad which isn't too big and commercialised? Either looking for a beach holiday or lakes and mountains.

DH would like to do snorkelling if a beach holiday, DD likes culture, I'd like a few shops and choice of restaurants (even if only 3/4) and nice beach or mountain backdrop. I know we can't fulfil all our requirements, but will look into anything recommended.

We went to Lake Garda a couple of years ago and that has sort-of beach opportunities, plus culture (Verona nearby, Sirmione and, I think, you can do a (long) day trip to Venice).

You can take ferry trips across/around the lake to visit other towns & villages.

We stayed in a mobile home on Camping Eden which had fantastic views - but there are bound to be lots of hotels around the lake too.

We went to Roda on Corfu last year, that was lovely, it isn't big or commercialised, there are some really nice restaurants, a few bars and some shops. There are some lovely beaches and my husband and girls did a lot of snorkelling.

Rovinj in Croatia is perfect and hasn't really been spotted by us Brits yet. Beautiful cobbled streets, restaurants, a harbour, national park, beaches. Small enough to walk around and short flight - perfect!!

Vassilikos on Zakynthos was amazing...it's an area rather than a resort. We were almost the only Brits there! We had a handful of tavernas and a couple of mini-markets within walking distance.

Lake Como, Italy. Less commercialised than Garda.

Sagres or Lagos (or anywhere in between) on the western Algarve in Portugal.

Rovinj is great, as is Porec nearby and istrian Croatia generally.

Thank you so much for your replies. We have certain requirements but are totally open minded where we go. I'll start looking into them while I'm watching tennis over the next few days!!

Any other suggestions are still welcome.

Look at the Costa de la Luz in Andalucia, especially the Ayamonte area.
Not too far from Seville if you fancy a trip there for the culture.
Pretty undiscovered by Brits but the Spansh and Portuguese do visit in August.

If you go to S Spain make sure you visit Granada smaller and more elegant
than Seville as it is a university town

Also second Croatia. It's beautiful!

Third Croatia. We had a lovely week in Baska Voda during the May spring bank holiday week a few years ago. There were very few Brits there.

Ive been thinking of Croatia. Some nice ideas there.

Caorle (Veneto, Italy) Ticks all of your boxes, but only come if you don't mind being the only Brits, it's very popular with Italians and Austrians.

Peloponnese is stunning - went on a recommendation of a Greek friend and wow!!! It really is an unspoilt area where the Greeks holiday (most other tourists we heard spoke Greek). For five star luxury, try Westin Costa Navarino. For moderate budget and authentic feel, try the hotel on the beach in Methoni. Right next to the castle too. It's an hour's drive to Kalamata airport which has direct flights with BA and Easyjet. Also check out the resort village Gialova - lots of self catering flats there and right next to this breathtaking public beach Voidokilia.

Gialova is a bit more hip and has steeper tourist prices than Methoni.

Sparta is also an hour's drive away and apparently one of the most stunning and scenic drives in entire country.

My top tip for next time is ... Rent a car (must) and stock up at the Lidl and Carrefour that you pass within 5 min of leaving the airport. The supermarkets in some of the little resort towns had quite overpriced wines.
