Please tell me your favourite Disney restaurants!
We are off to Florida August 2017 for a much anticipated holiday of a lifetime with the kids (both boys 11 & 13). The last time I went was over 18 years ago so obviously a lot has changed since then!
We have the basic meal plan included in our package, but we want to book some special restaurants while we're there, even if it means they are not covered by the plan and we have to pay for them. We will also be celebrating 2 birthdays while we're there - my 40th (eek!) and DS's 12th birthday.
So far on the list we have Coral Reef at Epcot, Character breakfast at the Contemporary hotel, Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom and TRex at Disney Springs.
I also want to venture out of the resort and go to Denny's!
Any recommendations on your favourite places to eat please!

I thought the food was nicest at Ohana (polynesian) and also at Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge).

I quite liked Be Our Guest for the ambience but the food was only ok. Ditto for Cinderella's Royal Table - food wasn't that great but it was my kid's favourite as they loved meeting all the princesses.

Sc fi diner
Prime time diner
Cinderellas table
Be our guest
Chef mickeys
Hollywood and vine
Whispering canyon cafe

Hollywood brown Derby
yachtsman steakhouse
Teppan edo
Boathouse at Disney springs

To be honest, we had booked lots of lovely restaurants but after a tiring day in the parks we just wanted to eat local to our hotel (beach club) so for us Epcot, Boardwalk, beach club or yacht club. We had quite a lot of credits left at the end even though we went to 2x TS credit restaurants for dinner each night. All the food was good, obviously it wasn't Michelin starred cuisine but it was fine. The menus get a bit samey after a while, we had a lot of lobster and steak.

Cheesecake factory was probably the best we found for good food and value (tip: go hungry)!

Rainforest café in Downtown Disney is great as a novelty place for the kids.

I have to say as much as I love Disney, a lot of the restaurants in the parks aren't brilliant to be honest.

We loved breakfast at the Polynesian ( I think ). It's the one with Mary poppins Alice and the mad hatter. I thought BOG was a bit rubbish. We did lunch and dinner. 50s prime time was great. The backyard bbq was loved by the dd's. The entertainment was fab. Food wasn't the best but I would go back. Rainforest cafe is another favourite. You are making me jealous. We are not going this year. Bloody house buying drains the finances.

Dinner at 'Ohana at the Polynesian Village Resort.

Le Cellier at Epcot.

We've always enjoyed the Garden Grill at Epcot.

Some good quick service restaurants are Casey's Corner, and the Columbia Harbour House at the Magic Kingdom, Chinese restaurant in Epcot and Yak and Yeti or Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom.

We were at CRT last week, having also been there 3 years ago. I found it really disappointing this time. We went for lunch both times but the food wasn't good this time. The main course was literally brought one minute after the starters.
The princesses were beautiful as always and we got some lovely pictures but no actual print out photos of our group with Cinderella other than on our photo pass. Last time we were given a folder with one large print and two small prints. The princesses were very rushed round the tables too. I'd honestly save my money and use fast pass plus to meet princesses instead. Such a shame as the setting is beautiful.

We need FP+ for rides, but will have spare meal vouchers, hence going to CRT if possible.

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe in the animal kingdom last night. The food was great, but the atmosphere was, erm, a bit full on. If you have children with sensory issues they might struggle. It is very noisy, and they have "tropical storms" every few minutes.

I just read this full thread and found it soooo useful! We are going in October half term - so four weeks away - and I just this morning started to look at booking tables. Feel like an idiot now as people seem to know to book 180 days in advance. Not me! Managed to book a Sunday lunch at rainforest cafe but that's all so far. Bit gutted I can't get in to Crystal Palace - breakfast lunch and dinner appear fully booked for our entire stay. We are there for four days, staying in animal kingdom, and have a 4 and 8 year old. Are there any other shows or rides I should attempt to book? Never been before!

mouldycheesefan · 21/09/2016 06:43

Hi maisy, yes most people book ADRs 180 days before. However do keep checking as people do cancel things. I cancelled Jiko, California grill, beaches and cream and Monsieur Paul whilst we were there and these are sought after restaurants. Also try searching by time on the app rather than by " breakfast" for example.
Book your fast passes for rides and shows as soon as your window opens!

mouldycheesefan · 21/09/2016 06:44

Maisy if you are going in four week book your fast passes now!

MerylPeril · 21/09/2016 12:29

When we go back this is where we are going back to

Sci Fi
TRex
Be Our Guest
Mama Melrose
Tuskers House for breakfast

Also the food in Coral Reef was good
Food at Cinderellas was very average
I liked the 50s diner - DH did not!
We liked Akershaus too

maisybobbins · 21/09/2016 19:34

Ok I've managed to book in a breakfast at tuskers one morning! Last meal slot available for our entire stay!

I've also added a couple of character shows to my plan, though you don't pay for these and it apparently doesn't mean it's a reservation. But hey we will show up and see what happens!

Tomorrow I will look at the fast pass. Is this where you actually have to book a time slot on a particular ride? Jeezzzz it's all so complicated!

Thanks for the tips - I will keep trying for crystal palace in case of cancellations.

PinotPony · 26/09/2016 13:53

Maisy - you might want to check out the DIBB Forum as it's full of useful tips. Hope you manage to get the ADRs and FPs you want! Things like 7 Dwarves Mine Train get booked up really quick!

We're there half term week too! Can't wait!
