Would you consider Australia for 2 weeks from UK?

Just pondering holidays for this year. We usually go long-haul (2 adults, no DCs) and we'd love to go to Australia - I've been before but DH hasn't.

Trouble is, DH can only get 2 weeks off work. Would you consider going that far for 2 weeks, or would it be absurd? Would the jetlag / travel time just make it miserable?

When I went before, I've always done a stopover in SE Asia - if we only had 2 weeks, that would eat into our holiday time and might not give us enough in Oz itself...?

Has anyone done it for 2 weeks?

Do it. It isn't going to get any closer and you can go now. We went to Australia & New Zealand for about 10 days - business trip with a holiday on the end for DH, straight holiday for me.

We did exactly that in Feb. went via Dubai with Quantas/Emirates.
Got a flight back to the UK which arrived in the evening so got home -unpacked, sorted some stuff out and then went to bed.
We were tired the next day but got on with stuff and then were back at work/ school the next day.
We broke our journey up on the way out and flew straight back. Next time I think we would do it the other way round.
It was worth it.

My mum comes to visit us in NZ most years and only stays for 2 weeks (all she can get off work). Its about 32 hours of flying to get to where we are. She has always been fine. She sets her watch to NZ time as soon as she gets on the plane which helps. I know she takes a couple of days to get back to UK time on her return though. She has done stopovers but last time she didn't.
