Lake Garda - self-catering

Hello,

I'm planning a trip to Lake Garda for the first week in September. Has anyone been self-catering (mobile home) at any of the camps, eg Butterfly, Bella Italia especially? Which one would you recommend? My ds will have just turned 4, if that makes a difference. Also, is the weather still hot in early Sept? We are going for the reduced price more than anything!

Any tips for such a holiday very welcome.

Thanks!

I'm just back from Camping del Garda in Peschiera, 30 degrees and more all week and that was in May. So it will be pleasant in September. I'm glad I researched the accomodation and opted for Thomson Vivaldi 3 bed mobile as they were really spacious and new looking (although you won't need a 3 bed). Free linen hire meant a lot less baggage for 5 people on Ryanair flight. Campsite is lovely, area is stunning and the walk over bridges into Peschiera - wow! I can provide a more detailed review if anyone wants

Beautiful area. We went two years ago but came back early because the heat was too intense in July.

We stayed at camping Eurpoa Silvella which was really nice but a bit cramped. Probably would be less busy in Spet though.

I hear Bella Italia is huge.

We stayed in Camping San Francesco, really nice site, pool wasn't open yet but looks good. The pool and sports area is away from the main caavan area, but there are caravans nearer to it also so I suppose some may choose tobe near it or away from it like us.

The restaurant is good and it is on the lake side.

Sirmione is nearby and gorgeous. The road along the bottom of the lake between Desenzano and Pescheira can get very busy, but we had no major problems apart from holiday monday at easter.

Movieland is good fun, not a huge place but enough for the pre teens.
Medieval Times is good fun for a night out and the food is good too if you like whole roast chickens .
We also enjoyed Parco Natura Viva, Safari Park and Zoo} Might be horrible on a really hot day though.
