Must be central, sleep 5 or more on proper beds(not sofa beds), and be rather lovely too

Or have you used a rental agency in Rome that was good and reliable?

That's sounds ideal.
I'll book it after you thrn.

I have found a stunning one - but swithering over the cost! Need to see some more yummy ones to convince me to part with the dosh

The Landmark Trust have one literally on the Spanish Steps soapy but you have to get their brochure (holiday home marginal porn IMO, it is fabulous!) to see the full droolsome details

moondog · 18/01/2007 09:26

Ooh splendid!
Actually, prices compare favourably to what would probably be a bog standard hotel.
I so want to 'do' Rome but the children are too small.

Are you an adult group or will therebe junior members?

lapsedrunner · 18/01/2007 09:42

We stayed here \link{http://www.navonasuites.com}

Soapbox · 18/01/2007 09:42

Marina - will try and get hold of that - I agree with the virtual porn thing - missed bedtime by hours last night browsing all the agencies

Mooddog, it'll be DH and I, my Mother, and my two DCs who will be 7 and 8 then.

We've done one City break a year since they were babies - an apartment makes all the difference IMO, and the more central the better. You can pop out do a bit of sight seeing have some lunch, then home for a couple of hours sleep, then take them out for late afternoon/early tea etc. Mum then usually takes them home and babysits for us, while we find a nice bar or something somewhere

Since my father died it is her only real holiday each year and we get the added benefit of a babysitter

Why do my links never work.....anyway, it was very central and I would recommend it. Good reviews on www.tripadvisor.com also. We went with d(4) and they ut an extra bed in the Bernini Sutie for him.

Lapsed runner - can you check the addy of that site - it isn't coming up for me (even when I type in the addy directly)

MrsMills · 18/01/2007 09:48

Oh yes, have you tried here ?

We used them a few years ago and had an amazing apartment in central Rome, I'll try and find it.

Marina · 18/01/2007 09:52

Check here for the availability of the Piazza di Spagna apartment soapy, but to see details you will need to fork out for the book

MrsMills · 18/01/2007 09:55

This is where 6 of us stayed a few years ago, 'twas divine.

100PerCentCod · 18/01/2007 10:06

soapy...................

Soapbox · 18/01/2007 10:21

Mrs Mills - great site - can you repost your link, or give me the name of the apartment- it is coming up with an error message when I click on it.

There are a couple more on that site that I really like, so will look into it

Marina - thanks - will send off for the handbook - looks like some nice UK stuff on there so will be useful for here too

lapsedrunner · 18/01/2007 10:33

opps....should be www.navonasuitesrome.com/

mozhe · 18/01/2007 10:53

If by any chance you are connected with a university,( teaching hospitals for example count...) there is a brilliant site called sabbaticalhomes,( I can give you the exact link if it applies to you..), where you get to rent the beautiful homes of fellow ' academics ' for a small £££s, it is great...let me know, I'm sure they'll be loads in Rome.

Soapbox · 18/01/2007 12:03

Thank you Mozhe - but sadly not

LR - did you stay in an apartment and was the kitchen tiny?

OP posts:
100PerCentCod · 18/01/2007 12:05

its soudns a great hol soapy
ds1 ( now a veteran sity breaker ) wants to got here next e but " wiht daddy this time"

MrsMills · 18/01/2007 12:17

Sorry the link won't work, It was Villa Fortuny in the Spanish Steps area, there are 3 apartments there I think, they all look quite similar.

lapsedrunner · 18/01/2007 13:13

Soapbox - we stayed in the Bernini room (as I now see it has been renamed). It shares a kitchen with the Borromini room. Yes the kitchen is small but we only used it for breakfast.
