SHORT BREAK IN BELGIUM WITH TWO CHILDREN - WHAT AND WHERE??

This summer we will be visiting my parents in Holland.

We want to take the eurostar so will arrive in France, then have to drive to North of Holland.
We want to stop over somewhere in Belgium for a night or two both on the way to Holland and on the way back.

Have looked at Centerparcs, but are a bit out of the way (all the way NorthEast Belgium, not really en-route) and very expensive.
Anyone have any good tips/ideas?

Please?

Thanks in advance!!

Depends what you want to do - Bruges is lovely, as is Brussels but would be staying in hotels. Ghent and Antwerp are also worth visiting. For a beach type stop over then De Haan is your best bet.

What age are your children?

Hi, thanks for replying. I have a ds age 7 and a dd age 4. I love Bruges, don't mind stopping in a hotel for a night, but not sure what there is to do for the children.

Have just been looking at campsites/recreation parks, would have to rent a cabin but minimum stay is one week, and we are only really looking for a 2 day / 1 night stop off to break up our long drive to the North of Holland.

if you want to stay near or in a city, bruges, brussels, ghent, antwerp and leuven are all really nice. i used to live in ghent and i would recommend that over the rest, though antwerp would be the easiest city for traveling up to holland, i think.

there is a campsite with cabins a 2 minute walk away from my parents' house. it is right on the border with holland. the owners are friends of mine, in fact.
