Day Out with Thomas

DTS are really into Thomas the Tank Engine at the moment so we are thinking of taking them to this .

The family ticket is £38 so if you have done this before, I would like to know if it is value for money or did you find the whole thing underwhelming?

TIA

Ds is now 5 and I thank the Lord that our Thomas the Tank Engine days are now behind us. However we did go on one of those days out when he was 2.5 (not there, in Hampshire, but I understand it is the same rolling stock) and he had an absolutely fantastic day out. Really, really enjoyed it. I left DD with my mother and went with Ds and my Dad and it was great. Lots of engines to climb over etc and lots to do. Would thoroughly recommend it (don't know what it is about males and trains, but I think my dad quite enjoyed it as well!).

My ds2 - then aged 2.5 loved it. However, I took ds1 - then 5.5 to the cinema and sent Dad to Thomas, saving us a bit of money. Very glad that ds2 went - he talked about it forever. Very glad that we didn't spend £40 on it.

Did this with DD last year through pre school. Do DTS go to pre school, if so get them to enquire about Thomas for pre schools. It is so much cheaper, we did Thomas in the summer and the santa express at christmas (both at the Bluebell railway)with pre school and it is much better value. It is quite noisy and crowded but the kids seemed to enjoy it.

DTS (2y 10months) go to nursery so will enquire about them doing this. I'm not mean, I just hate spending more money than I need to

Haven't done this one for thomas (but did do the santa special) but have been to watercress line in Hampshire which was great. Or Swanage which is more low-key but less busy. Not sure how prices compare tho'. My DC (5,4 and 3) believe that the island of sodor is a real place and that thomas is on his holidays when he visits the other railways lol.
Make it a day out, take a picnic.
