Does anyone know how much kitchens cost?

It needs replastering, re-tyling, the door needs blocking up, the pantry needs taking down, I need kitchen units and a dishwasher, oven, fridge & freezer. Can I get all this done for within £5,000?

depend how many units and who you are paying to do the work. prices for white goods vary loads too.

get quote for building work from professionals, they will have to measure up.

If you saved on the units and got sya ikea ones.PLastering would be expensive ,Probably best to get quote for building work so you know how much you've got to spend on the kitchen itself.I think kitchens can go from a few grand to tens of thousands ,it's so variable.

Happy to get IKEA style ones. Just hope I can get it all done for £5,000. We are shit at DIY so will have to pay professionals!

we took a supporting wall down and blocked a door - it cost about £800 after shopping around.

DH did the tiling.

We got kitchen from MFI (units, surface, dishwasher, sink) for about £4000 plus fitting. We did not need a cooker or fridge.

It is looking tight for you - can you do it in stages to give you time to save?

its the paying proffesionals that is the expensive part of a kitchen

try and get a local handy man, rather than thise that shops recommend, cause they really are SUPER expensive

YOu need to take into account the cost of someone fitting it for you ,we paid someone £1000 to do ours.

Ours was about £2K 3 years ago. We had a plasterer but DH did plumbing and fitted units with help from friends. That said am still waiting for the plinths to be fitted

DimpledThighs - £800 sounds good for what you've had done. I suppose we could get it done in stages but we haven't managed to save any money for so long, we'd have to be careful. Not a bad idea though.

I really want to get it done. I have about a metre's worth of surface space (another metre, but you have to duck your head under a french dresser style thing) and one draw at the moment.

Thanks for prices & advice everyone. Didn't realise the fitting would be £1,000!
