What is the best way to pick up DD in this rotten weather with a baby

Poor DS is going to get soaked and wind swept. I guess it won't harm him.

Any tips on reducing the impact of the weather. I don't thing a blanket or muslin will stay on the top of the car seat to protect him in this wind.

Take the pushchair with you and put him in that with his cosy toes/blankets and raincover?

you get little plastic covers for the small baby car seats

Like this cover

Can't you leave him in the car or do you have to park on a main road? I've always had a car park option and been able to lerave DD2 in the car.

If not just wrap him up and hold the brolley over him - ?????????

I can't get a buggy into where my DD is at nursery. It is a small nursery in a house. I have to go through 2 doors then out in the back garden to the room at the end then back again. I always struggle with the car seat. Buggies are kept outside. Its not worth the time it takes to sort out the buggy either.

Could I use a plastic bag?

I think I shall just have to let him get wet. There isnt even room to leave him in the main house of the nursery.

The cover looks pretty good. Its not expensive so I may just order one. No good for today though!!

Can't you get anyone to go with you & sit in the car with him? Myself & another woman take it in turns to sit in each others car with the babies whilst the other one picks up the 2 kids

this morning I wrapped a blanket round the handle of the car seat and then tucked the other end under DS's feet that way it didn't blow away - my car seat has it's own hood- maxi cosi cabrio- so this way he was completely protected from the wind.

Teecee - no I have to park on the main road. I can't even see the car once behind the gate as they are high fences to the back garden.

bewilderbeast - it sounds like a plan. I do have a hood but find it gets in the way usually. I will dig it out.

sling

Beabea · 11/01/2007 12:58

Fireflyfairy2 - no unfortunately. I was going to ask my neighbour but she has just returned from Canada early as her brother died. She is also looking after her grandson on thursdays. I didnt want to overload her. I might try the other side. I dont know them quite so well.

Soupdragon - where shall I sling him? Actually I love the sling I have. Although on this little journey its quicker to grab the car seat and run. He is more protected in it I think.

In crap weather, I tucked little BabyDragon into a fleece pouch sling (coorie) as she was completely protected by all the fabric. Even now (she's 11 months) I put her in one and use an umbrella if it's horrible. They're so quick to use, it's just as quick to put her in one as it is to get the blimmin car seat to release from the base

Or you can sling him in the boot and keep him safe and protected there
