Ah right - I assumed thats what she was taking. Although I preferred trainers - best to travel in, good for city days and to wear in the evening. You also don't want open shoes in Asia - insects and streets with no pavements ....

AHunter

I forgot the selfie stick if you like them (just another thing to carry)

However, I am very curious

Not counting round the world flights

What is your estimated daily budget ?

How do you fund a year travelling, do you expect to work during your travels ?

IceMaiden73 · 29/04/2016 17:52

I would take more shorts and less dresses, as there will be activities that dresses won't be suitable for

1st - when Dh and travelled, we took a laptop and worked along route. We travelled with our children though so meant we could afford better accomadation, safer travelling etc. We actually came back in profit as had rented out London flat also whilst travelling and even 5star hotels in Asia were cheaper per day than our London flat.

OP may have a working holiday visa - for under 31s without dependents. Or some other kind of work visa. Or may have rented out her house as mentioned. Or just saved very hard; you can do a year for about £20k all in if you are careful in your spending.

Universal sink plug
Dioralyte
Sleeping bag liner
Couple of little padlocks

We also found having little drawstring sack things really handy - I had one for undies, socks and swimwear, one for tops, vests, tshirts and one for trousers/skirts. It kept my backpack in some semblance of order and really helped when packing/re packing and instead of pulling everything out I just had to pull out one sack.

Pack just an empty pillow case. You can stuff it full of clothes to make a pillow when you need one and otherwise takes no space.

You can get similar packing bags in poundland.😁
