Cyprus is going to be too hot isn't it?

Just booked Cyprus for the last week of August. Did loads of research into hotels, took ages to decide, I did look on the holiday weather website for averages in August, it said highs of 32 deg.
Just looking at random stuff online last night and I saw a ' Mirror' headline that said last August in Cyprus was 57deg!!!
I then went on to read at that time its usual to be well into the 40's!
I don't think we can cope with that, I'm now thinking of cancelling Sad to book somewhere that doesn't have temperatures akin to the inside of the sun.
Gutted..
Anyone been there in August that didn't turn into a crisp?

Rhodes is so expensive though and it is lovely - just not sure ity is worth the price - we got the sensatori for less this year.

We always go to Cyprus in July/August, it is very, very hot but we love it! The swimming pools are gorgeous, just like a lovely warm bath. For someone who is always cold at home with cold hands and feet, it is bliss. We went last August and it was scorching. We are going at beginning of July this time and cannot wait. But our children are grown up now, but when they were younger i think they found it too hot and still got burned in pool when wearing factor50 suncream, so it might be difficult with young ones to keep them out of the pool!

Hersetta - please update us when you get back and let us know what it was like!
Hyacinth, yes I think the spf suits will be the way to go for the kids, hopefully they'll want to go to kids club too which will hopefully be inside.

I live in Cyprus and its very, very hot in August. Its relentless. As long as you have a/c and take care you'll be fine.

Don't cancel, just make sure you have a pool and air conditioning and you will be fine.

Sorry, but that advice is wrong in my opinion. I've been to Cyprus many times and I just won't touch the place between mid June to mid September in future. July and August are far too hot even with air conditioning and a pool. The tiles/paving around pools and on the sand on the beach is too hot to walk on in your bare feet. We've been in July and could barely leave the apartment with the air con as the heat just hits you as you leave - you end up almost running between apartment and the car to get inside the car with the air con again. It's not just "fluke" weeks either - it's the norm in July and August.
