MIL's 60th, disney Paris?

Did a big weekend in a log cabin in Scotland for FIl's 60th, was considering Disney Paris for MIL, not sure best way to do it for at least 6 adults and 2 kids in November. Gite, on site, in Paris, nearby hotel. Will probably book accomodation seperate as flights cheaper with Ryanair from Scotland rather than paying supplements.

Just don't know where to sart and a lot of site I am search don't have availability that far ahead yet.

I really want to say bugger it and spend money on a decent family holiday to make up for last year, rather than spending a lot on a weekend in November.

First check the dates of the halloween festival/bonfire/xmas special events (will have a look for you in a minute)
You could book flights as soon as they are released to get the best price then sort out accommodation later.
Or - do you have Tesco club card vouchers you can use to pay for the trip?

foxtrot · 28/12/2006 22:08

have done a bit of googling - dates seem to be bonfire nights are 6th 8th and 10th November 2007, halloween is 6th october to 14 november 2007. i'm guessing xmas starts soon after halloween finishes?

Thanks Foxtrot, I was triling through the Disney site for ages and almost got the accomodation price grids but then lost it again. I know there can be a big difference in price depending on which day you arrive and what is on in the park and hours can be a lot shorter too.

Still in two minds if I want to do this, it would be our main holiday for the year well only holiday really. PIL are off to book "a little week away" tomorrow with money that was refunded to them from overcharging and they will still have a fortnight in the summer. OK we won't be paying for everyone or anything like that its just everyone else will get another hoilday (or 2) during the year and we won't. We went to disney 2 years ago and I wasn't going to go back just yet, don't know what else we can afford anyway but feel we are getting pushed into this now.

Sorry just having an argh!!!! moment .

is it something your MIL wants to do herself? I'm sure there are lots of other things you could do closer to home & cheaper so you could have your main holiday too. Its important to get away just as a family, i think.

Have you got a FIL? Could you send MIL away for a weekend for her 60th instead of all doing something together?

Skribble · 29/12/2006 18:48

MIL would really like to swim with dolphins or something but disney is high on her list too, she would love it I know. Tried to get her to take the kids with the m on their french holiday in their caravan, they could stop off at disney . But she didn't go with that one, and I think they are doing the UK in the caravan this year.

I could send her to the Isle of Arran, and she can swim with whales and dolphins there .

Yes have got FIL. I think I will try for a family weekend in UK. It was all a big surprise for FIL last year. We could send them to Paris for a romatic weekend and have a party when they get back .

There are cheap hotels all over Europe (incl near disney paris). Try F1 / Formula 1 (double bed and single bunk in room with wash basin), Etap (same sleeping arrangements bu have loo, shower and basin in room). Also maybe B&B (not sure of en suite etc), Premierclasse.
Great cheap hotels where all you want is somewhere warm and clean to sleep. Any communal bits i.e. showers and loos are automatically cleaned whenever the door is shut.

Usually around 30 euros per room per night (might be 40 euros around Paris)...... Enjoy !!

mumsallie · 29/12/2006 19:14

Oops !!!

Loos and showers only clean themselves when you're NOT in there, not every time the door shuts !!!!!

Thanks for the tips on flights and hotels both of you. Never considered flying to another UK airport first, who did you fly with for this bit?

Wish I could do it all but I will have to decide soon if I am going to go ahead with this or what, I will be the one orgainising it all too so even more stress.

I was spoiled first time we went to disney we were in a 50 seater lear jet, not quite the same as ryanair. Neice won the trip in a competition bless.

Who's it for - her or your kids? Does she definately want to go there?

Its a lot of money for a short break but if thats what she wants it will be well worth it if she has a great time

Skribble · 29/12/2006 22:57

Kids have been and happy to go anywhere and experience new stuff. I do want to make it special as she does a lot for me but it is going to be a big ho for us and a nice weekend for them.

Ok what else can I do cheaper and special for her 60th then. I love the idea of a big family weekend away and I even enjoy doing the catering. So where is big and cheap for 12 or more people????

What about Centre Parcs ? Big chalets, self catering or restaurants, activities for all age groups, pool excellent and free !
Wouldn't necessarily recommend for elderly or those who can't walk too well though...

Skribble · 30/12/2006 00:39

Oh I don't know, I am having a brain melt on this one. I will have to do a scrap book too as she would be most put out if she didn't have one to match FIL.

Found a luxury 6 bed lodge in Scotland with hot tub, sauna and leisure facilities. £680 for a weekend but between 5 couples thats not bad. Could pay more and have not quite so luxurious but individual lodges .

For Disney try the My Travels Explorers hotel. Via a belgian reservation service you can book 2 adjoining rooms and a bunk room for approx 200 euros a night - these sleep 10 and include breakfast

Skribble · 04/01/2007 00:44

Thanks I liked the look of that one.

We've booked at Marriot through the same website - £81 for 2 bed "villa". There are 6 of us and the explrers hotel looked great too - rooms for 6 were £61 including breakfast!
