prams for one year onwards advice needed

hi
my DS doesnt like cots in the day to sleep, we're in the lovely lazy habit of me pushing him in a pram or the car

ive just posted a thread about whether i should buy an old coach pram thats become available to me

but thats got me thinking, what do most people do for one to two year olds pram wise?

is it buggy land for me now- do they sleep well in them, is anyone using a traditional pram at this stage?

and are traditional prams long enough? i never realised babies were babies for such a short time!

advice please...

Buggy land. It's just me, but I'd feel like a prize prat pushing one of those around.

Is it an offer you can't refuse, though? Just a thought, but does it have straps in it, so when you're getting on the bus/wherever, and he says 'out!', you can keep him in there?

know what you mean, this is just for pushing around the village/park/to my mums when he needs a sleep- its a mary poppinskind of lifestyle thingy i do have a jane pram that i bught in spain thats a bit buggy like (although in two pieces and quite heavy_

i think cos im a single mum im trying to eek out evry last bit of him being a baby

didnt mention but hes ten months at the mo

PS hes just started walking! so i am realistic that he doesnt really like prams/car seats/beingtied down

will he fit in it lying down? - Might be worth checking how much room there is left.

i am collecting a coach built pram today to restore (£13, bargain), and tbh if it cleans up nice and dd3 still fits in it then i may use it for a bit. she still has a nap a day usually once we have done the afternoon school run. she is a small 22month old.

LadyHoward · 27/12/2006 09:25

ok thats good to hear - i feel to buy a pram for the the twice a day nap is a bit indulgent but im so tempted

its 35inches - does anyone know what this is in centimetres

89cm

o that was quick - thanks

so am i alone in needing my baby to sleep in a pram (i.e. he doesnt do cots in the day)

no, dd3 doesnt sleep well in a cot during the day. usually leave her asleep in the girls room i na her pushchair, but love her to sleep flat really.

(tape measure was in front of me, as i was measuring a box last night)

right, i have just picked up the SC coachbuilt one (fro ma junk yard belive it or now £13) and its very roomy. shame its one i am restoring and selling on, if i was to have another baby soon i'd keep it lol. i think its from the 60/70's. i tried my 22wmonth for size (12-18month clothes) and she can fit in laying flat. HTH

LadyHoward · 27/12/2006 17:21

o wow thank you thats really kind! so 22month old is twice his age so im sure he'd fit
do u regulary restore things like this?

ha ha now im worrying bout the lack of room in the house - we're a two up two down with no hall - i must be mad !

this is my first attempted at a coach built pram. i usually restore dolls. but fancied trying my hand at this. considering they can go for £100+ i figured it was worth a £13 risk.

LadyHoward · 27/12/2006 17:58

they can go for two or three hundred! so makes total sense
im still in a quandary and feeling that i ought to just come to terms with the fact ihave a toddler not a baby !

my cousin had one until her baby was 2. he then outgrew it, but was luckily a good walker so she never entered buggy land! i really want one for my ds aswell. do they all have the propping up backrest? and do they only have one position cos i saw one the other day and it was propped up but still quite reclined and ds like to sit properly upright.
