4-day weekend from London with 5 and 2 year olds

We are an American family who moved to London a few months ago. We will be here for 2 years and we want to travel as much as we can, with work schedules and two young DCs (ages 2 and 5). We spent the first few months just getting oriented and then went home for Christmas (MIL is very ill), and now we are finally trying to plan our first trip, a 4-day weekend over Easter. We are anxious to explore the UK but worried that it could still be cold and gray at that time. We'd like to go somewhere where the weather is likely to be at least pleasant and the atmosphere/activities at least reasonably child-friendly. We can drive, take the train, or fly. I won't say money is no object but DH has a generous expat package that leaves us with more disposable income than we've ever had at home, and for once we'd like to stay at nice hotels, eat at good restaurants, etc. (to the extent possible with little kids). Where should we go? Do we have any hope of getting reservations anywhere for Easter weekend?
Thanks for any suggestions!

short breaks over easter are going to tricky unless you stay in a hotel because self catering places will all be looking for a full week as it is school easter holidays. have a look at Bath and Bristol for a good start.

Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, Bath, Harrogate, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Orkney. All worth a look for good food and great things to do with kids.

The Costwolds are beautiful and easy to get to from London.

For a day trip come to Henley on Thames. You will love it.

Unfortunately you can't guarantee the whether. Easter can be awful whether, rain and hail one year and we can have a heatwave with 30 degree sunshine another (86 to you). This isn't much to do with the march April thing either all though it should be warmer than now. Plan for both weather scenarios, South half of the island tends to be warmer x

Try North Norfolk. Wells-Next-The-Sea is popular with families. The Crown hotel there seems nice. Lots of villages on that stretch of coast eg Brancaster, Cley.

I wouldn't stay in the uk tbh that weekend. Go to Italy or Spain for a long weekend. Do the U.K. May -September for more chance of a nicer weather. Also from London it's easy to go to many places Friday night and back Sunday in the uk so go further for long weekend

The world is your oyster from London. Why not have a look at cheap flights on Sky Scanner and head somewhere European? Depending on how adventurous you feel - Paris, Brussels, Bruges are v v easy via Eurostar (the most low stress way to travel from London ever). Alternatively head somewhere warmer - Madrid, Athens, Roma, Barcelona. Or somewhere pretty and cultural (not to say the others aren't!!) - Prague, Budapest, Split etc. LOADS of choice. Depends what you like to do?

Gosh one thing you will notice is that in England you can NEVER guarantee the weather...yesterday was dull, grey and cold where I am, this morning it's lovely bright sunshine...crazy!

Depends what you want to tick off on your list...what about Cornwall.

Cornwall - lush green Countryside, beautiful unspoilt beaches, coves, nature [[
