OMG have villas always been this expensive?!

Have spent the last few nights searching for villas in Greece, Majorca and Croatia. Fair enough it is for 8 people (needing 5 rooms) but to get somewhere nearish a beach and nearish shops/bars, reasonably nice with a pool we are looking at a minimum of £4000 which I can't afford (as our family is 3 of the 8).

I was surprised that we can get all inclusive hotels for much cheaper than the cost of a villa plus flights but because we would prefer to go together we wanted a villa.

Cant decide whether to keep searching or give it up as a bad job!

Try and book through owners direct not Holidaylettings. Holidaylettings charges a huge fee, and the same villas are often ad tissue on Ownerrs direct.
I know, I have a villa and am on both.

Ad tissue?! Advertised!

OP, I think that Majorca would be a lot cheaper than Greece or Croatia. I have been to Majorca and Corfu in villas, and Corfu was much more expensive for accommodation and meals out etc. I looked at Croatia last year and couldn't find anything - we went to Minorca instead which was lovely and I would recommend it.

We stayed in Pollenca (Majorca) a few years ago and it wasn't cheap, but not as much as you are finding. Ours was a 3 bed and it was about £1300 for a week in the school holidays.

Would you consider Malta? There is good stuff to be had there, the only downside being that sandy beaches are not the norm (there are a few, and otherwise there are lots of steps into the sea for swimming)

Where is your villa and do you rent it out in school holidays?

Thanks everyone. Rookie we bit the bullet and hired one in Cavtat in Croatia. It's beautiful and costs a fortune but I got fed up looking and decided to go for it! It's on the owners direct site - 5 bed villa! Now all I need is my holiday wardrobe!

Sounds fab. I wanted to go to Croatia for our group holiday but other families not keen ( the joys of group booking), but I hope to go some day.
