I am stuck for holiday ideas for this year, I have two boys (16 and 14) and a girl (6).
I really dont know where to go this year, the boys want somewhere with lots to do. They fancy Italy, but im not sure where.
Any ideas?

We used Monarch. Paid about £350 return July from Gatwick

I've been looking at accommodation and flights. Saturday flights are horribly expensive! Unfortunately some really nice accommodation I've found is Sat-Sat only.

Costacoffeeplease · 05/01/2016 11:05

Are you looking at privately owned properties? They're often more flexible - owners direct, homeaway, holidaylettings etc

thunderbird69 · 05/01/2016 12:59

Hi
Yes, I'm only looking at privately owned ones. The one I really liked already had a lot of summer bookings all Sat-Sat, so understandably wouldn't take a booking on another day of the week. I'll keep looking, it does look like a lovely area.

thunderbird69 · 05/01/2016 13:26

another quick question - is it equally busy all Summer or are there any quiet times, eg end of Aug?

Costacoffeeplease · 05/01/2016 13:57

It does get a bit quieter towards the end of August - and if you're here the last Sunday of August you'll see the local festa with procession through the streets and fireworks!

Costacoffeeplease · 05/01/2016 13:58

Which areas are you looking st thunderbird? Villa or apt?

onebusymum · 05/01/2016 16:23

Aah I was looking at May but end of Aug sounds fab.
Ive found a site called Holiday Gems, good prices

I don't know that one!

onebusymum · 05/01/2016 18:12

No neither did I until today! Got good reviews though.
Its cheaper to fly end Aug than May, so we may change our plans
Thanks Costa you have been great

If you fancy a more outdoorsy holiday then a 3 bedroom mobile home at www.portofelice.it/en/ might suit you. Still one of our most favourite holidays! Plenty of sports activities for your wee one and teens and a glorious beach. You're also 5 mins walk from the wee town of Eraclea Mare with shops, bars, restaurants and markets, also short bus trip to Caorle which is lovely and has a water park. 45 mins -1 hour to Venice which is amazing!

Costacoffeeplease · 05/01/2016 19:11

Grin hope it works out!

thunderbird69 · 12/01/2016 19:13

Hi Costa

I've found a nice looking place in Colina Verde. Good location?

loopsngeorge · 12/01/2016 19:23

Costa, have been reading all your info on carvoiero with interest! It sounds lovely but I'm wondering what we would do in the evening as we usually watch cheesy hotel entertainment and do the mini disco. Do you know if there are any complexes with this kind of thing, or with any daytime activities for kids? Monte dourado didn't seem to have anything like that but looks ideal otherwise.

Costacoffeeplease · 12/01/2016 19:38

Colina verde is a good location - if you want to pm me a link to the ad I'll check it out for you

Costacoffeeplease · 12/01/2016 19:41

In the evenings most people make their way down to the square/beach area where there is normally live music or some sort of entertainment - there are places for ice cream, hair brading, caricatures or a nightcap and all the shops stay open late, so there's a really nice atmosphere of people wandering around, listening to the music, dancing, kids playing on the square and even on the beach. I don't know if there are any places with kids clubs - maybe Quinta do Paraiso or Rocha Brava?

Costacoffeeplease · 12/01/2016 19:42

Just a thought - it is Colina Verde in Carvoeiro? I think there is a development with the same name in algoz, which is quite a way inland!

loopsngeorge · 12/01/2016 20:53

Thanks Costa, that does sound really nice, I'll take another look.

Costacoffeeplease · 12/01/2016 21:03

This year the live entertainment in the square was on from June to September - I don't know about the plans for this year yet but I'll be surprised if it's not similar

Costacoffeeplease · 12/01/2016 21:05

And yes, monte dourado is a good location and nice apartments with 5 communal pool areas and tennis courts, 5-10 minutes walk to the beach and less to the nearest shops and restaurants - best to look for privately owned apartments rather than development owned ones though IMHO

This might be of interest loops - thread I started at the beginning of last season with input from mnetters who came for their holidays!
