Best Double Buggy to fly with?

Thinking of going away with DH next time he goes away on business. DS3 is 18m and DD is 6 weeks - have a double Mountain Buggy for everyday use but need a "foldy up" buggy that is easy to travel with. All recommendations very gratefully received. Thanks.

I have flown a lot (probably 20-30 times) with a Phil & Ted.
It was fine.

Dbl Maclaren?

CattyB · 12/12/2006 22:55

Was thinking more of the maclaren line as I don't want to spend a fortune on an(other) buggy

Moondog - I have a qu on the P&T - when you fold it do you end up with lots of pieces?

moondog · 13/12/2006 08:45

Well I don't,but having said that i have never used all the bits and pieces on them like the raincover and the sun thing.

I just put it into a huge plastic bag with a drawstring provided by the airline at the gate and Bob's yer uncle.

In your case, you would probably have the papoose so would just take the out with the baby in it and carry it on.

when you fold the phil and teds you end up with at least 2 pieces.... the main buggy.... and the toddler seat (that clips on the back behind)

yuo can also take off the wheels but dont have to

although the extra seat fits nicely on top of the P&T its not secured and therefore you do have 2 pieces...

also my bosses flew with their P&T (with baby in back and todler seat on the front) and the airport handling broke the connectors that let the toddler seat go on the front...

so since then we have had reclining seat on the front and toddler seat on the back...

luckily baby was old enough and sturdy enough not to need the cocoon anymore... if he was tiny not sure how they would have managed TBH!

BTW i would be tempted to just take the double mountain buggy...

In my experiance tandem buggies are impossible to push... and foldy uppy side by side buggies are IMO desigened for super flat shopping centres and thats about it... they too are heavy to push and bit of a nightmare

the only buggies i like are the mountain buggy (probably my favourite buggy, definitely favourite single)
Phil and Teds
Jane powere track twin look good as well though havnt actually used one

also like maclaren fold up ones but ONLY for super flat areas like shopping centres! My favourite maclaren is their bottom of the range volo actually cause its light, simple snd easy to push...

currently use the macleran techno XT and i dont like it... give me a volo any a day!

also i have used LOADS of buggies in my time

currently use phil and teds and macleren techno XT.... have acess to a M&P one with a buggy board which i hate (with or without the buggy board actually) a refuse to use!

Sorry, but every time I see this thread title, I think of you zooming round the house cleaning with the dusters & polish in a buggy....... but then I'm just wierd.

twickersmum · 13/12/2006 20:07

just take your buggy
you can take it right to the gate
if the airline knacker it you'll get a new one!

CattyB · 14/12/2006 10:23

Good point Might be worth it to get a new buggy - mines 5 years old - still wonderful but wouldn't complain about getting a new one
