ok, apologies to all that i have bored on my other threads, but hey. i'm even boring MYSELF on this one!

the question is.... should i go skiing with dds aged 2 and 4, and dh, who has just broken his arm. we are due to go on the 15th. we can't re book as we're restricted to school hols, and it'd cost us 4k to go during half term

do we go and make the best of it,(dh thinks he'll be able to snowboard a little??!!) or is it ridiculous to contemplate going?

i havent skiid for 6 years and was so looking forward to it.

we cant make up our minds!

what dyou reckon?

I'd go, in fact if DH doesnt want to go I'll take his place.

noonar · 11/12/2006 13:56

LOL leisel! You'd probably be more fun- we're at each others throats ATM. i'm so p*ssed off with him for wrecking our hol. unfair, i know.

actually, taking someone else, is not auch a bad idea.

Tbh you can't go ski-ing with two small children and only one working pair of adult hands. It would be a nightmare for you. I seriously would look into taking someone else.

carmenere, dh is really playing his injury down, and refuses to acknowldge that thing are any harder for me whilst he's in plaster.

his cast is below the elbow, so he can still do nappy changes, help around house etc, but is just a bit slow.

But can he carry heavy stuff? I know it is tepting to try and maybe you can pull it off but I would think that it will be very stressful.

justaphase · 11/12/2006 14:14

I'd go. More fun then staying at home sulking isn't it?

Put the kids into ski school and enjoy!

BettySpaghetti · 11/12/2006 14:15

Are you covered by insurance? If so get your money back and re-book (last minute would be cheaper) for a holiday thats more suitable, bearing in mind DHs broken arm . A lazy warm holiday (Canaries etc) maybe.

noonar · 11/12/2006 14:16

he can carry with his right arm, as he's broken his left (he's right handed).

i know that the journey will be tricky, with cases etc, but we do have daycare booked for the girls. he is able to help me dress the girls, but cant do zips etc.

do you think the day to day will be impossibly hard, or mainly the journey? dd2 won't be skiing, so wont have skis to carry.

thanks, justaphase.

betty, i don't want to sound like a spoiled child, but if we cant ski, i'd rather stay at home its just such a hectic time of year to go away. it was worth the effort of going to ski, but not for a beach hol, which we're not geared up for, mentally. does that make sense?

No, that makes sense noonar. It just sounded like a lot of hard work and stress to me, but then again I'm not a skier! I can imagine how disappointing it is when you're passionate about it.

Hope you manage to go and have a great time - if not this time, very soon

OMG, just spoke to the insurance co. they will still cover him to travel, and will even cover him to snowboard, if the doctor agrees that he can (he suggested at his last appt that this might be ok). will find out tomorrow what the doc thinks.
