Or going next summer?
We've just booked after initially seeing the review on MN's.
Any one got more personal info/experience?

CD meant to imply sarcasm noted and returned with knobs on.

Misinterpretation v easy, thought emotion smileys would help.

Sorry accepted and returned with fairy lights on.

I'm beginning to go off the idea - all the chat about where you live/schools/property prices crikey - myabe the best thing is to invite everyone you know so it is full of people and kids you like mind you that might not be a holiday then - so tricky!

I went there nearly 5 yrs ago, when DS1 was 9mo, & the place was lovely & great for older children (say 5+). BUT it WAS full of middle-class stereotypes (that's not to say they weren't nice people though) & I found having a child who was on mushy solids a bit difficult as they only seemed to do one puree every few days & the owners were a bit dismissive when I asked them about it. They were very much laid-back affluent hippies who couldn't quite empathise with the fact that I was a rather shy first-time, probably slightly neurotic, mother (& the wife was a psychotherapist FFS!) I actually ended up in tears at one point. (I know, I know, but I was a bit PND-ish).
This was 2002 though & maybe by now they've managed to remember what it's like to have a small baby.

Interesting Scampadoodle. I've written to Villa Pia about accessibility for a wheelchair and their response was prompt and friendly but a tad vague. I also couldn't help wondering whether the villa owners would be rather like a superior house master and his wife with all these ex-public school guests on their best behaviour, trying to ingratiate themselves and feeling unable to complain about anything.

OMG we have been to Villa Pia, last Easter, gosh now we have been labelled, how exciting!

It was interesting...

The location was fabulous as was the food. We met some friendly and interesting people. The kids loved it (4 and 2) as there are toys and space to run around, a lovely swimming pool and tennis court. However for me it was too much like a little piece of the UK upped and moved to Italy. The only Italians were the few staff.. All the guests were Brits/Anglos and talk was quite predictable. The communal dining was less of a worry than I had thought, maybe due to the copious amounts of wine freely distributed..

Everyone had small kids (under 7) and it was great place for helping yourselves to food for them and the idea of a kids supper and babysitting was really good.

Dh and i and kids escaped quite a lot to explore (fab mountain towns)as sometimes i felt it was like being in a boarding school eg we were told off in a note left on the table, for picking some local flowers that are considered rare. Silly us, we should have known..

Would we go again? Not on our own, but if we could book the whole place and fill with our own friends yes..

As for wheelchair access, personally I would say it is not suitable, very hilly, gravelly areas.

Just wondered if anyone has anything to say re safety and leaving kids in the room - how does it work? Does it?!
