So mnetters, you have not let me down before. Me and DH nearly seperated in the summer. Thanks to advice on here and some lovely close friends we went to relate. I cannot praise them enough as some may know from others threads. They truely did fix our relationship. I would love to go away in teh new year for a lovely weekend (i cannot bring myself to use the word romantic) so you lovelies - what are you r best suggestions????

Where are you and how far do you want to travel?

true romance - Rome. Amazing. fantastic food and I actually love it in winter more than summer.

closer to UK - Loch Torridon hotel in scotland. www.torridon.com - just the best place ever, remote, beautiful and the food and service are fab (costly tho)

This place is nice - though the website does not seem to be working properly at the moment. I think they do special packages for winter weekends

here

ideally in this country s I cannot bear to go to far from dc (probably part of the problem!!!) but rome sounds delightful....

Edinburgh -- there are a whole range of accomodation choices from v. posh to cheap B&B. We stayed at a lovely one in the New Town, I'll dig out if you are interested. And you have dinner here
The Witchery

(my DH and I met in Edinburgh so I think it is fab!)

Oh lake vrwny is lovely, we had a very romantic w/e there when I was pg and barfing non stop. I'm told the food is very good, shame i couldn't eat any of it.

What about Chester or York? nice things to do and more relaxed than a big city (love edinburgh tho and the witchery is wonderful)

loads of recommendations here but I think it depends on what you want to do. Do you want to be int he countyside with views over fields, or next to the sea or in a city? And where, roughly in the uk do you want to go? If you tell me a bit more I'll have a think.
