Do you queue to board flights with unreserved seating?

I can't understand it... I fly Ryanair to Dublin quite often. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than stand in a queue for 20 minutes before boarding. I don't care where I sit and in fact, if you board last, you'll probably get an aisle seat and get off quicker.

Even when travelling with DH and DD (11) over the weekend, we sat back whilst all the other passengers pushed and shoved their way on, then boarded more or less last and STILL managed to find 3 aisle seats within a few feet of each other.

I just don't get the queuing thing at all. Am pretty horrified at Ryanair making families pay to board first, as I understand why you need to sit next to small kids, but then, I wouldn't be shy about politely asking people if they'd move to let me sit next to a small child - particularly since any bugger can "buy" "Priority Boarding".

Do most people queue up?

Never queue to board - people will happily move rather than sit next to my kids - especially as they throw up on planes!

Oh, my other tip from the weekend is, "Don't pay Ryanair for your baggage". Got to STN and was absolutely charming to the check in lady and when I said, "where do I pay for the baggage?" (one bag) she gave me a conspiratorial smile and said, "don't worry about it."

Dublin was so chaotic yesterday (bad weather) that they didn't bother telling me to pay. The queue for the sales desk 90 minutes long so I would have missed the flight.

So that saved me £14. A small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
