Knackered, need a holiday. 2 adults and three kids, inc. the twins. We can go in Jan or in April. Any suggestions? Somewhere with childcare for the babies would be nice.

uk or abroad?

travelling w kids is a mare. would reccomend you avoid flying, but if youre feeling brave...

easiest option (and one i am hankering over myself) is one of those luxury family hotels - one in dorset, one in cornwall... cant remember names but if youre interested ill look it up...

if abroad... quo vadis travel are fantastic. try them

Menorca is lovely and child friendly. We haven't been with the twins.. but we went with the others!

flying! with small children!! burn me at the stake before i try that again!!

still having nightmares... >

well...not necessarily that bad i spose...

Flying with kids is not that bad, no, really! Not sure if you have flown with them before but, honestly, it is fine. Have done numerous UK/Spain flights, a flight to Mexico and one to Corfu, all have been fine

If you were going in April I would go somewhere like a First Choice Holiday Village in Benelmeda on the Coast del Sol:

You can go self catering or all-inc, there are some family attractions nearby Sea Life/zoo, cable car, and Tivoli.

how many children and what ages did you fly with WCL?

JoshandJamie · 04/12/2006 11:48

Have you taken a look at www.totstofrance.co.uk? They have a bunch of properties in France (all within an hour of an airport - or you could drive/ferry if easier) that are fully kitted out for babies and kids. They also offer a TAMBA discout (if you're a member). Look here for some sample properties suitable for twins.

They can also arrange english speaking babysitting if you need some time off!

We went on hols with Tots to France in June after I read about them in the Sunday Times - took our then 2 year old and 4 month old, and it was fantastic. We are rebooking for this year and taking friends. My husband in particular was really not keen on taking the kids abroad, especially Jake as he was so little, but the place we stayed at made it really easy. They had nappies, wipes, baby bath, toys, books, Shrek duvet cover, IKEA kiddie plates etc.., baby monitor, nightlight and so on - it was such a relief to arrive and find it all. For us it was perfect - fab for kids but not cheesey - didn't want Haven holidays and this was spot on. Lovely pool, play barn with all sorts of toys for all ages, as well as beautiful place for us grown ups to chill out. We flew which was ok but think we will drive next time so we have our own car seats.

Have flown with two kids by myself aged 3 and 6 months. Flew to Mexico when they were 3.5 and 10 months. Did Corfu when they were 5 and 2 and the Spanish flights were ages in between.

ok WCL. fair 'nuff. i am officially a wimp about flying with multiple toddlers/buggies/endless handbaggage/hire cars with USELESS child seats...

goldenoldie · 01/01/2007 11:38

Decided on April - still not sure where to go, but it must have childcare otherwise it won't be much of a holiday for me!

Hi, families I have nannied for have gone to various Club Med resorts (in France, Italy, USA and Mexico) and raved about them. I went to one in Italy and one in Florida, too. They are pretty expensive but great facilities, good childcare, and all the parents said they felt they actually had a holiday too, which is a good recommendation! They are also all inclusive so no cooking, washing up, and free very drinkable wine with meals etc. I was impressed with the variety and standard of the food (and i am a fussy eater - but don't tell my charges LOL) and when I visited one of my charges in the kids club they seemed happy, and had lots of fun things to do. The one I went to in Italy was a childfree one (heaven LOL) and they had just as good facilities and fun things for us grownups to do too. I learnt a lot. Mainly that waterskiing and windsurfing are not my forte. Hope that helps
