Ryanair flight as part of a package?

Does anyone have experience of this? I am looking at a hotel plus flight package and the airline is Ryanair. They don't do holidays, do they? Maybe they do. At the end I am told I need to add a further £30 per person for baggage as it is not included, but I know Ryanair allow 10kg per person and 15kg per party as standard when you book just a flight.

Should I pay the extra? Seems quite a lot, especially as 2 of the 3 of us are children.

Someone could be packaging a holiday up using ryanair flights. Ring and ask the company about baggage?

If you try expedia they use Ryanair as part of a package deal which is often cheaper than booking as a 2 bookings.
Go to select holidays and work from there. If hotel is not on their site obviously this wont work. Then select flight this directs to flight page select Ryanair then work through booking page with baggage select you do not need to have luggage for each person can just select on bag or two if you want. Then if you have travel insurance (which you should get cheaper elsewhere) go down list of countries to D where you can find dont want insurance.
After this just need to enter necter card from Sainsburys for lots of points and arrange transfers As I dont know where your flying to cant help but if you let me know may be able to point you in the right direction

It would not fill me with confidence! Can you not select the airline you would like then book a hotel and transfer if needed via that airline? I am not a fan of Ryanair and I avoid them!

OP was asking about Ryanair packages I travel a lot and this expedia seems to be the best way of combining light plus hotel in package. If you pick hotel then go to pick a flight page different airlines are available for route including budget airlines and BA KLM and similar. You only make 1 booking so as a package you get ABTA protection which you do not get with 2 individual bookings.

Should have said that you can choose hotel and flight and do not have to pay anything until you have chosen the package you need. Do not have to book hotel first then book flight or the other way round.
Hope this helps

You don't make individual bookings with the airlines! You choose flight and hotel option. You then pay the required total sum and often there is a very big saving over booking the two separately. You do not need a middle man like Expedia. We have had nothing but problems with web sites selling packages. Flights changing dates and not flying direct so hotel booking and transfer is completely messed up. A 10.00 am flight being changed to a 6.00 am flight! It is more reliable to choose the flight and then add the hotel from the same provider. We travel a lot too and prefer to use scheduled airlines who tend to keep to a "schedule". Never had any problems at all, ever.

Just a note from someone who works in the industry, be VERY careful about making sure you have ABTA/ATOL protection when booking through a 'packaging' site, or indeed when booking a package through an airlines own website.

Just the act of booking two or more elements in one place does not guarantee you are protected.

For example if you book a non-protected package 6 months ahead, and the airline then cancel the route you could be left liable for the cost of the hotel/transfers. If the package is protected, it is the operator who have to make alternative arrangements, or potentially take the hit themselves to refund you.

Ps. I wouldn't fly Ryanair again if they paid me.

Millymollymama · 16/09/2015 18:25

Agree totally re Ryanair, Cupcake! I guess we have not ever flown routes that are likely to be cancelled and usually fly BA. If one airline cancels a route, someone else will offer it, although the price will be higher no doubt.
