Doesn't toddler milk contain cow's milk anyway?

JellyTipisthebest · 27/08/2015 00:03

Toddler milk is cows milk with sugar and vitamins. He may well eat beter without it if he doesn't eat very well now.

RomComPhooey · 27/08/2015 00:06

Does your son have a lot of fruit or fruit juice? Too much fructose gives babies and toddlers the runs, explosive too!

LittleBearPad · 27/08/2015 00:15

Toddler milk is cows milk. It's just got vitamins in it too.

The ingredients for Aptamil 2-3 milk are as follows (my bolding)

Water, Skimmed Milk, Lactose (from Milk), Galacto Oligosaccharides (GOS) (from Milk), Vegetable Oils, Fructo-Oligosaccharides (FOS), Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid), Emulsifier (Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids), Fish Oil, Magnesium Hydrogen Phosphate, Vitamin C, Calcium Hydroxide, Calcium Citrate, Potassium Citrate, Milk Flavouring, Potassium Hydroxide, Calcium Phosphate, Ferrous Lactate, Taurine, Vitamin E, Zinc Sulphate, Vitamin A, Vitamin D3, Pantothenic Acid, Nicotinamide, Copper Gluconate, Sodium Selenite, Folic Acid, Potassium Iodide, Thiamin, Biotin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin K1, Riboflavin, Manganese Sulphat

Save yourself some money and give him milk.

In answer to your original question yes you can get SMA milk out there.

corinnexx · 27/08/2015 08:29

(RomComPhooey) he does love his fruit. I only give him water or sometimes flavoured water. But if other people are here like his nan, she will top he up with juice and lots of rubbish,

(JellyTipisthebest) he has always been a bit fussy with his food. Some days he will not eat dinner at all, and the last time he would of ate a big meal would have been around 2pm, and i give him dinner around 6pm with snacks in between. He only has his sma milk after his breakfast and sometimes half a bottler after his lunch, and one for bed

Op, why not just take a tin of sma with you? When dd was a baby we just took tins of the powered milk in the suitcase.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 27/08/2015 17:07

I wouldn't have thought he'd need all that milk at all actually. No wonder he's not eating well. 2pm is late for a big meal. That's a four hour break, with snacks and a bottle of milk.
Does he really need bottles at all? Mine were using tippy cups when they were toddlers.

AGnu · 27/08/2015 17:19

I have a 2yo. He has 3 meals a day, rarely any snacks & half a cup of dairy milk with breakfast & dinner. Toddlers really don't need anything fancy! Smile

corinnexx · 27/08/2015 18:39

(AGnu) thanks for your input. My son also has 3 meals a day,but he always seems to be hungry Maybe im feeding him wrong times or something. breakfast about 9am as he is a late sleeper , a snack about 11... 2 oclock lunch, snacks and about 6-6.30 dinner, about 7.30 yoghurt and cut up banana an then bottle at bed, he also does not and never have slept thou the night,

LittleBearPad · 27/08/2015 20:44

Maybe he needs bigger portions?

PacificDogwood · 27/08/2015 20:49

ALL formula is cow's milk.

'Toddler milk' is a great big con and makes me very angry Angry. Marketing madness, getting parents who are desperate to do the 'best' for their children to dish out hard earned cash for a totally unnecessary product. Bastards.

If he were to have a problem with either lactose (milk sugar) or cow's milk protein it would be the same with regular milk or 'toddler milk'.
I'd try him with normal milk now and see what happens.

Baby abroad website might offer some advice if you wish.
