Cheap newborn buggy for travelling ideas!

Hi,

We have a little lady who will be 3 months old when we head to Gran Canaria and will be about 9 months old when we head over to Florida. We are looking to get a 'cheap' e.g. under £100 buggy that is both suitable for 'newborns' (e.g. has a lie flat option) and is okay for bigger kids as well as being easy to travel with.

Any advice or suggestions would be wonderful and apologies if my terminology is poor - this is my first Mumsnet post!

See if you can get a second hand BabyJogger City Mini for your budget. They fold fantastically easily, and have massive hoods to keep the sun off.

Thanks BikeRunSki - do you know if the handle guards can be replaced as the second hand ones seem to have been worn through?

I have no idea I am afraid.

You can buy from bj, about £15 iirc. I suspect it would happen again.

Britax do a copycat version as do out n about, look for the little nipper on ebay, you can get a right bargain.

The handlebar rubber doesn't always wear through! I bought mine second and have been using it for over 3 years and it's ok!

Does the B Agile have the huge, 3 stage hood that the BJCM does? I found it brilliant for keeping sun and rain off, don't thinkni've everbused my raincover.

nottheOP · 26/08/2015 21:10

From the pics it looks like it does www.britax.co.uk/pushchairs/b-agile-3/b-agile-3/

I've not had one though. A good bjcm isn't that easy to come by, but you'd be able to sell on easily if you went over budget

I have a Joie Brisk which is cheap, folds easily into an umbrella style, is very light and lies flat. I have used it since newborn (with a footmuff) and is still great now at 18 months old. Only thing is you will need a parasol or other sunshade as the hood does not go far.

NewBallsPlease00 · 26/08/2015 21:44

Second hand bjcm, they also take maxi Corsican seats you can take on plane (carry on)

Some on eBay for£30 at the mo, filter on end soonest and used

Thanks for all the tips so far - there are certainly a few of the Mini Joggers going for a good price. One last question but is it able to be made fully flat without buying another attachment? I have looked at the manual (babyjogger.co.uk/docs/pdf7z2a3tDRp8hl_1399547794.pdf) and also online and can't see how the normal jogger turns from a buggy to a lie flat pram. Any help welcome! Thanks again for all help and advice so far :)

It just reclines all the way back, it stays as a stroller. If you google 'baby jogger city sidewalk kiddicare' there's a video of how it works (the sidewalk is the same as the BJCM, just a slightly older version)

Brilliant - thanks for all the help (especially nottheOP) - will now just have to keep an eye on ebay!!

I bought a cheap umbrella fold off amazon for when we went on holiday when ds was 4 months. It is suitable from birth, it's called tippitoes spark. It came with a bag so easy for travelling.

I use it now ds is older instead of the travel system as its lighter and smaller so fits better in the car.

Less than £50 and pretty much identical to the maclarens etc that would cost a lot more.
