Canvas or Eurocamp - Italy

Hoping for some wise advice...we are planning a holiday to Tuscany next July staying at Norcenni Girasole and Park Albatros camping villages. Both Canvas and Eurocamp have mobile homes on both sites, on a roughly like for like basis Canvas is coming out at about £300 cheaper. Dh wants to go with Eurocamp as we have been with them before but as our experience of Albatros this year was that Eurocamp don't have much presence there and the accommodation is perfectly acceptable but a bit tired I'd rather save the money. Anyone have any views? I'd be very grateful for some viewpoints before we commit the cash.

I've just got back from a 2 week holiday in Tuscany. We spent the first week at Norcenni Girasole where we booked direct with the site which was cheaper and then we did a bit of a road trip, taking in a couple of nights in a hotel in Florence and then 5 nights with Eurocamp at Lake Bolsena, Park Albatros and then back to Norcenni for the last night before flying home. The mobile home at Norcenni with Eurocamp was amazing - it was a new model called Avant model. Out of the two sites we preferred Norcenni. We found Park Albatros a bit overwhelming because it's so big but of course you have the advantage of the beach. Norcenni was also v v busy but we love the setting there, the countryside and our kids loved the teen-scene and disco.

In the past we have travelled with Canvas and our kids always loved the kids' clubs with them but I think it's really dependent on the couriers that particular year. Weighing up, unless you're prepared to commit to the cash and pay for the more expensive caravans (like Avant) with Eurocamp, I'd probably save the cash and go with Canvas or direct with the site - although this would mean that you wouldn't have the advantage of the Canvas kids' clubs. Let me know if you want to know anything more about either site before you head off!

Thanks Calypso2 that's really helpful. Did you manage to book online with the site? I can't seem to get their online booking system to work. We don't really use kids club and the site's own mobile homes seemed to be in quite good locations so that might be a good option.

We loved Albatros but really keen to try out Norcenni too and see a different part of Tuscany so we're currently planning 5 nights at Norcenni and 7 at Albatros for next July - can't wait!

I've just got back from Norcenni too! We stayed with Elle Vacanze, booked directly with them but think we had to wait until about October before the next year's prices came out. The accommodation was not as brand new as Eurocamp but was loads cheaper.

Loved the site and the kids had a fantastic time; they are teens so could go to the entertainment on their own (Kevin and Andrea are legends in our house now!!).

We're going to camping fabulous with vacancies solely, tomorrow. I'll report back next week, but they were miles cheaper than canvas or eurocamp Grin

Hope the torrential rain on Monday didn't cause you too many issues. We were travelling through it and thought of those on camp sites when saw pictures of floodwaters on the news.
