How do you fit all your luggage and pushchair etc in a hire car?

We're off to the algarve in 5 weeks- 4 adults and 18mo DD. I'm getting concerned as to how we're going to fit luggage for 4 adults and DD, travel cot and pushchair in our hire car. They can't guarantee us an estate and we have a mclaren techno xt which is quite bulky. How do you manage to fit everything in?

Thanks for the offer glorious but we've got a baby bjorn travel cot so sorted on that front. It is great for hols as its light and small. That's my worry with buying new as I have a tendency not to resell afterwards!

Now if anyone has a good baby jogger or baby zen that they want to sell then I'm your woman.

I would def look at getting a zen if you can afford. The better quality products sell for more secondhand still as really hold value.

We had a babybjorn travel cot, used 5 years over 2 children so it was the original not the lightest one they sell now, and we recently sold for £118 on eBay ( only bought for £145 at the time). Same with pram, bought bugaboo all black, sold after 5 years use for £550 ( was only £700 also at the time). So both theretically only cost less than £200 for 5 years use

Be very careful about not having the parcel shelf because if you leave anything in the car it will be on show. This risks someone breaking in. The Channel Islands are not high crime zones. Lots of hassle of the car is broken into.
