Travel agent recommendations please - honeymoon dual adventure/beach break

Ok, so my DH and I married a couple of weeks ago and we now want to get our honeymoon sorted (We didn't pre-plan a honeymoon as the wedding planning was stressful enough!).

We're looking to go somewhere reasonably hot in February for around 10 days and would like it to include something adventurous (sightseeing / experiences / culture / history etc) before finishing with a few days relaxing at a beach, around 3-4 days.

We got quotes from Kuoni for a Sri Lanka tour - but they could only do the 'relaxing' part of the break right in the middle of the holiday, and it isn't by the coast, it would be at an inland village, which isn't really what we wanted. Plus one of the experiences (tea picking 1 day/1 night and a boat tour 1 day/1 night) would be repeated, which to me is a waste of 2 days when we could do something else.

They also quoted us for a Vietnam & Cambodia tour - this appeals more as nothing is repeated and the 'relaxing' is at the end of the holiday, but again they can't get us to a beach resort for this - we'd just be a hotel inland.

Has anyone else done this type of adventure/relaxing style holiday? Where did you go, what did you do?

And any travel agent recommendations would be much appreciated...
(at present we've avoided the usual high street chain names such Thomsons / Travel Cook etc)

I was going to suggest Cambodia and you can spend a few days exploring the temples in Siem Reap.

I'd then fly to Thailand for a beach break.

Any reason why you don't want to book it yourself?

How about South Africa. Easy to organise a holiday yourself and it has amazing beaches and loads going on in Cape Town.

probably better on Lonely Planet Thorntree for this one, but I agree - book it all yourself with some research.

don't forget jabs and tabs.

We did South Africa and then Mauritius and used an in dependant travel agent who sorted the lot.

We did a safari in Kenya and then five nights in Zanzibar for our honeymoon. Another very popular option, which some friends are currently doing, is safari in South Africa followed by Mauritius. We booked our honeymoon on our own.

More recently, we did a week split between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, followed by a week in Koh Chang. Internal flights in Thailand are cheap and easy, and we had a brilliant time. Chiang Mai is fantastic for both adventure and culture. We booked that particular holiday with Virgin during their sale after Christmas, though we chose to book some hotels on our own because they weren't options provided by Virgin.

Vietnam tour then a few days on Con Dao Islands (Six Senses is gorgeous)

Bangkok, Chang Mai then one of the islands like Krabi (Rayavadee is special)

Tanzania safari then on to Zanzibar

Costa Rica is supposed to be amazing.

We've used Trailfinders for lots of trips or Andaman Adventures for Thailand.

What a lovely dilemma Smile

We went to Sri Lanka in Feb one year for our wedding anniversary. We went twice that year as we loved it.
We booked our own flights and used a fantastic local company (car and driver/guide) I can give you the name if you want. We booked our own accommodation via booking.com and agoda.com We did a 3 week tour. went to most of the sights, 2 national parks for safaris, cooking lessons with local family and beach hotel which was lovely. We paid around £1200 each for everything including the drivers accommodation.
We also love South Africa.

South Africa has everything you want in one country.

Walking amongst the volcanic landscape of Reunion and then relax in Mauritius (a 45 min flight away)?

Belize - have an adventure in the rainforest, tracking the howler monkeys, early morning bird watching, tarantula tickling or river tubing/zip lining then 5 nights on la isla bonita also known as Ambergris caye and all part of belize. has everything you are looking for and is a really unusual place to go. not huge 5 hours drive top to bottom and the islands are easy to get to by boat taxi.
