Definitely go the Discovery museum in the centre of Newcastle. It's free to get in, has loads of interactive stuff. Kept my three delighted for a whole day.

The village hotel is next to Silverlink.

It is a shopping complex but also has a UCI Cinema so that is very handy.

Also not far is the coast (!) where there is an aquaraium, fishing marina, sand and sea! There is an ice rink at whitley bay (as well as the typical seaside amusements)

There are a few different museums in the centre.

Ceramic Experience.

Whitehouse farm is FANTASTIC but its not in the centre.

Alnwick Castle.

There are a few quite decent soft play with indoor football etc

Take them to see St James park!!

Also, depending on when you are here you could get tickets for a basketball game at the arena?

'seven stories' is also good and has some special things on over Xmas.

You can do stadium tours on non match days - St James' .

earlysbird · 22/11/2006 20:03

ooh yes seven stories is fab!

Life is good, right next to central station, but can work out pricey - but it is a whole half a days entertainment I would say. Interactive museum with biology leanings.

Discovery Museum - Blandford squre - really good and free.

Pets Corner, Jesmond Dene - few animals, little park, nice stream for pooh sticks and just quite nice and quiet in middle of city. Has craft market on a Sunday very close by.

Village hotel just up the road from me - the Coast at Whitley Bay/Tynemouth is worth a look. Lots of the usual soft plays around plus ceramic cafes. Let me know what they are in to might be able to help.

thanks!!

intrigued!

Centre for the Childrens Book - sort of celebrating everything about childrens literature. Has lots of exhibitions/displays/stories & events plus a great bookshop & cafe.

We were in Newcastle this weekend and took the children to the fujiamama tepenyaki restaurant which they though was fab and ate huge amounts. Different to Turkey as well!!
