Palm Springs or Santa Monica for three day stop?

Looking at a week in Anaheim and a week in San Diego with a three day stop in between to recharge the batteries. Can't decide between Santa Monica and Palm Springs. All suggestions very greatly appreciated

We did SF as a stopover on the way back from Hawaii one year, before we moved to CA. We had four nights there which was plenty. Going up Coit tower was fun to get views out over the city.

So do you recommend three days in SF then onto San Diego?
