Small group singles holidays for older man who doesn't do singles holidays??

Dad is in his mid seventies, still very fit and active and enjoys hillwalking. He's quite reserved, and since Mum died 3 years ago he's found holidaying quite lonely. Money is no object, and he's been on some amazing holidays - but finds wandering about and eating on his own every day quite lonely (he lives alone some distance away from both DSis and I, and doesn't have any friends really, so it's not a change for him).

For the first time ever he's open to the idea of a singles holiday - but it must be a smallish group, not 'party, party', should involve hillwalking/sightseeing, and the group should be of a similar age as him.

Anyone got any ideas of companies etc he could use?

A saga holiday! Definitely not a singles holiday but men can be in quite short supply so eagerly sought after Grin if he can dance even more so.

If he is interested in cruising they are often communal dining

If he's up for holidaying with younger people try exodus.co.uk, extremely well organized holidays, very mixed groups, eg when I did the inka trail and jungle trecking in Peru we had graduate students as the youngest and a 72 year old as the oldest, in India i was the youngest (early thirties) by 20 years.

Have you heard of HF holidays? Sound to be just what your dad's looking for. Dp's used to go and now df goes by himself after DM died. Seems to work really well for him.

Spice have got a group walking holiday centred on Lake Como, with gentle or experienced walks, meals together at night.

How about www.shongololo.com. You have to be able to climb onto and off the trains and it's not singles only but they have single cabins and there were quite a few single travelers when we did it. Also the dinner carriage is full if the train is so you aren't allowed to sit on your own because it will leave someone without a seat! We did Jo'burg to Cape Town and it was amazing.
