Hiring a villa with 3 other couples staying different nights- how do we split the bill?

We are planning on hiring a villa next year for a week so we can attend a friend's wedding. 3 other couples are coming too and are interested in staying with us, which is fine as there will be loads of room. WE are hiring it for a week, which costs 1125 euros and the other couples will be staying for 3 nights each but there will be some overlap so basically we will only be in the villa on our own for 3 nights. Hope I haven't lost your train of thought yet...

How on earth do we split the bill? One couple has said they can book a hotel room for 200 euros for 3 nights so will only pay that amount but I can't work out whether that is more or less than is fair!

I did aplit it up into nightly rates then divided that by the number of people staying that night but that seems a bit unfair as one couple will be staying iwth us on their own one night so will end up paying more than the others... this is confusing me.
ANy words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Why does this always get left to me? Needless to say they're actually dh's friends!

If you look at each couple in turn, by rights they should be paying half of the bill with you, to stay on any one night.

So you would divide 1125 euros by 7 (to get a nightly fee) that equals 160 euros, then half that (so that nights bill is split between you and the other couple) which equals 80 euros, and if they are staying for 3 nights then it would be 80 euros times 3 so 240 euros.

So each couple would pay 240 euros to stay for 3 nights.... I think that is right!!! LOL

I would do like this

1125 euros = 160 Euros a night

Divide by number of couples each night and each pays that amount. So when you are there you pay it all. When two couples you pay 80 Euros each. When 3 you pay 55 Euros each.

Or you could just pay yourselves and let them offer you what they think is fair

Oh and 40 euros each when all 4 couples there

I assume that if you are staying 3 nights just you and each of the other couples will stay 3 nights too then there is an over lap of all 3 couples for at least one night. The daily rate is 160 euros, so on the days it is just you you pay the full amount, when there are 2 couples each pays half (80 euoros a couple) and when there are all 3 couples each pays a third (53 euros a couple). Knowing who is there which nights you can use these3 figures to calculate who owes what. HTH

Soory I thought there were 3 couples in total not 4 .

If you are hiring the villa ANYWAY, then I would just suggest they pay a token amount, and not worry about exact money

That's kind of what I was working out CD but wanted to make sure it was 'fair!' WE're all going to the wedding together and I thought it would be nice if we could stay in the villa together but we're only staying longer because you can only hire the villa for 7 days so one of us has to be there for the full week but I don't mind paying extra because we'll be there the longest. it is really lovely (in Italy)and has its own pool etc so will be much nicer than the small hotels nearby (wedding is actually in the villa next door).

ANyway forget the rambling. If each couple pays 200 euros does that sound fair (what they're ofering atm)? Leaves us with 525 euros for 7 nights, which sounds OK to me. It would also be nice if we could just sort it out without getting the calculators out!

Let's not get started on hire cars or food bills...

MP, we aren't hiring the villa anyway. WE're all going at the same time and had booked into hotels etc individually. None of us could afford to pay for the villa on our own so we all decided to bunk up. It's just that I've been volunteered to do the organising!
