I thought I'd start a new thread as number 2 is nearly full.

We haven't got ours booked yet. But we are planning on going August 2016. DH and I both turn 30 in the next 11 months so it's like a big birthday holiday.

Sorry hula, just caught up

The weather was outstanding for about 5 days well into the 80's in December
It went cooler but not cold.
We had two days of wet or dull weather

Please do ohana; great cocktails

HRHsherlockssextoy · 03/02/2016 19:52

nearly

When and if the free dining comes out, it will be for next year so 2017,
You are correct.

Hulababy · 03/02/2016 22:32

Thanks HRH.

3 days and counting - currently ill with a horrid cold bug which has hit dh, Dd and now me. So can't wait for some lighter warmer weather to cheer us all up.

Staying at Hard Rock Hotel this visit which we've never been to before. Dd is excited by early access to Harry Potter and having an express pass - though doubt we will really need it as its not a peak week. But after so many visits and seeing people with them she just loves the idea lol!

We have our four days of Disney sorted with ADRs and FastPass. And today we received our Magic Bands courtesy of a friend who went there recently - Dd already had one.

SwedeDreams · 03/02/2016 22:46

Hulababy we'll be out there at the same time as you! Try not to look at the weather it's looking rather nippy at the moment Shock

We fly on Monday!! I booked our adr's in august, we have a royal room booked at Port Orleans resort- bit gutted to find the pool at the resort is closed for refurb while we are staying, but as it's a twin resort we can use the other pool, huh though.

Best part about going this year is blizzard beach is open in Feb as it's a flip year! I have never been and am so excited- hoping it's warm enough to actually get in the water...Hmm

Hope your cold gets better soon- I had one at Disney once which is where I discovered the joy of nyquil, I'll be bringing some home this year Grin

Bunbaker · 03/02/2016 22:48

What is ADR?

SwedeDreams · 04/02/2016 04:58

Advanced dining reservation- places like t-rex and cinderellas castle are impossible to schedule without booking them six months in advance!

Bunbaker · 04/02/2016 06:45

I have just googled both of these places. DD will be 16 and I think we would both prefer somewhere a little quieter to eat. We will be staying at the Universal resort and will check out some eating places there.

SwedeDreams · 04/02/2016 21:24

I have never stayed at universal but I would love to! Let us know how you get on, and if you find some good places to eat please share!

absolutelyflawed · 06/02/2016 00:07

Hi, has anyone been to the Pirate Show? Can't remember what it's called exactly, but where you have dinner as well.. DC will be 7 and 9.

And is the Titanic exhibition place worth a look?

Thanks.

Hulababy · 06/02/2016 08:09

Have to say that we haven't really done anywhere in the area bar the parks and a tiny bit of shopping. We never have time! On a fortnight a trip we like a trip to the space centre but that's about it.

Hulababy · 06/02/2016 08:10

Holiday day is here! At airport now waiting for bag drop.

Every line except ours is moving. Same family has been at the counter for past 15 minutes!

SwedeDreams · 06/02/2016 12:36

Oh bon voyage hulababy! We are off tomorrow- where are you staying? Weather looks dodgy Tues and weds- blizzard beach is shut!

Tiredemma · 06/02/2016 12:39

Long countdown for us.

Going back in october 2017. Staying in a Villa (KIssimee) this time and four nights at Hawks Cay (Keys) again.

If anyone has any villa recommendations I would be grateful.

Hulababy · 07/02/2016 01:46

We are at hard rock hotel. Early night for us today - early morning, all that travel and all full income ESP poor Dd who has been in bed past 4 days with it and only just coming out the other side today. Hopefully a good nights sleep means we are ready for tomorrow. Will be a universal day - have our early access and express cards ready.

Was pouring with rain this evening but not cold and no wind. Forecast says dry for rest of week. Don't think it's going be to be as warm as last time we came in February but main thing is if we can avoid rain!

Hulababy · 07/02/2016 01:46

We never do water parks when we come in February tbh anyway. There's a pool at the hotel if dh and Dd feel the need :)

shatteredstudentmum · 07/02/2016 17:20

Does anyone have recommendations for footwear for Park days? Going in April and dh has bought go walk for him and go walk sandals for the boys but I've not found anything yet...

Bunbaker · 07/02/2016 17:21

I will be taking my Go Walks when we go. I have not found any footwear that is as comfortable.

I didn't know they did sandals as well.

HRHsherlockssextoy · 07/02/2016 17:55

I wore my Nike sandals for some of the week. My feet gave up. I had to buy some new Nike trainers in the end.

I bought them there in one of the outlets on 192. There is a sketchers outlet off the 192 in Kissimmee

Hulababy · 07/02/2016 19:12

Currently sat waiting for dh to bring lung over in the universal park.

I'm currently in sketchers trainers - lovely and comfy with memory foam.

In the summer when it's so hot I end up with feet covered in blisters - horrendous. I've reduced how many by switching to sketchers. I have the sock ones, flip flop ones and mesh ones as well as these trainers. All with the memory foam.

Managed my 10000 steps well before lunch time :)

shatteredstudentmum · 07/02/2016 20:10

Thank you, guess I'm best paying for the sketchers then.

Another obviously important question - I usually wear dresses and skirts in summer / on holiday, is this a big no no in the parks? Am I going to need shorts?

Bunbaker · 07/02/2016 20:13

I would like to know as well. I bought a linen skirt and a pair of linen shorts in BHS the other day. I don't do white knuckle rides so I expect I will be able to get away with not wearing shorts every day.

Hulababy · 07/02/2016 21:42

I've done both.

When really hot though I don't like bare flesh touching - tops of thighs can be a real issue even if skinny in our experience.

It's cooler at the moment so linen trousers here and dh has jeans - never resorted to jeans before though as even in Feb it's normally warm enough. Dd stuck to shorts though.

In summer I normally wear shorts of some form and if I do wear a dress I wear thin shorts underneath.

Hulababy · 07/02/2016 21:43

I've not found dresses an issue even on the big rides - it's the heat in the summer that prevents it

shatteredstudentmum · 07/02/2016 22:15

Thanks hulababy, might not need to buy much extra then. Hope it warms up over the next 6 weeks or I'll need my woollies instead!

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 08/02/2016 13:28

I always do thin cotton dresses there instead of shorts - I can't bear a waistband around me if it's too hot! Also if you get wet on teh water rides, wet dresses are so much more comfortable than wet trousers or shorts!

Re. the Go Walks - are there any womens' sandals? I think it's these ones that everyone raves abou tbut I can't bring myself to wear them :)

Hula, have a fab time!
