For the first year we are tied to school holidays (although I suspect as it's reception we can miss the last couple of days).

It's for myself, DH, DD1 (will have just turned 5) and DD2 (2.5). Last year we went to Mallorca (Majorca?? a little confused about which spelling to use) but in May so a lot cooler than July weather. Definitely wont consider August.

Looked at average temperatures for July for there and it's 30, just think it's too hot for little people.

Any suggestions of alternative places where there's guaranteed sun but where I won't be worrying about them? Any help would be great.

TIA

Northern Spain? South West France? Slovenia?

I think anywhere on the Mediterranian will be very hot, mayb look at Northern France or somewhere like Austria.

the locals cope but if it is too hot for you, don't go.

nowhere has guaranteed sun except a desert, but you'd be mad to go to the Med in July if you don't like heat. I agree; northern Europe is for you.

We find school holidays too hot most countries.

We tend to go to Dordogne - although that can be hot, or not warm enough as not guaranteed hot weather.

An alternative is to stay in the UK for the summer and then go abroad on other school holidays - we go to Tenerife in October and it's perfect for us then at about 25-27 most days.

Vendee (Western France)
Not the most interesting part of France but gorgeous beaches and pretty reliable weather. Approx 7 hours' drive from Calais if you want to take the car.

If you hired a place with your own or shared pool it is relatively easy to manage the heat in the day.i say that as a redhead with a DS redhead as well so no sun for us thankyou very much!!!
I vote for the South if france easy to fly to easy to drive. Lots to do have a great time xx

I wouldn't miss the last few days of the school year. They might miss some really nice end of year events.

Truly reliable weather normally goes with higher temps. Look for somewhere with air con and a pool and you can retreat indoors in the middle of the day for a nap or quiet time and still enjoy it.
