Been to Leith Waterworld. It's fine- quite varied, wave machine, flumes and all the rest. Nowhere to have a real adult swim, it's all mucking about stuff. Gets very crowded. I haven't been to anywhere else of this sort though, so I haven't got anything to compare it with unfortunately! There are a few posters here from the Livingston area, so if you don't get any more responses soon just keep bumping it.

Thanks tamum. Not really my idea of fun but hoping to coax my 3yr old ds into the water and he has assured me he will go down a slide! I am willing to try anything as he has this barrier about getting his hair wet and needs lots of encouragement. Are you from up that way..if so..tell me is Almond Valley all it's cracked up to be?

Hi Winniewoo. Actually, I'm not sure Leith would be right for you then. The flumes are really big, and I have a feeling there's an age restriction on them, though I might be wrong. There's no small slide that I know of, and I think the flumes might have the opposite effect to the one you want for your ds. Perhaps Bubbles would be better. I am in Edinburgh, so I could ask around next week at work, though I don't know if that's too late?

Almond Valley is very nice. Nothing spectacular, but a good mix of animals, pleasany surroundings, little train, soft play and so on. I don't think it's as good as some of the ones I'm been to in the south of England, but the children do always enjoy it. Anything else I can help with just shout

You may find one of interest to you here .

If you have good weather and want something outdoors (with some indoor display areas if it turns wet), Summerlee Heritage Centre is good, with a lovely new outdoor play area for children from tots to teens. Also, if you are in the Glasgow area and your son likes cars, buses, boats etc, the Museum of Transport makes for a good visit ( the nearby Botanic Gardens would be great for a picnic and there is a small but good playground there too). There are links to both these places under Days Out Recommendations from a week or so ago.
