Copenhagen WITHOUT kids

DH and I have a few days in Copenhagen later this month. What should we do? Is the Copenhagen card worth it?

We like museums and galleries, outdoor stuff, walking, nice cafes and restaurants (although we're trying to keep the costs down a bit).

Any recommendations?

We were there this time last year (for the Eurovision Song Contest Blush) and had a great time, although there was quite a chill wind still so bear that in mind. Visit the Carlsberg Brewery, Tivoli Gardens, get disappointed by The Little Mermaid (but there's quite a nice walk to it beside the water), day trip to Malmo - easily accessible by train - and go to Nyhavn for something to eat and a bit of people watching. We didn't get the card as a lot of our time was geared around Eurovision events so we wouldn't have got the value out of it.

Any suggestions on where to stay. Central and safe. 4 or 3 star.

The steak restaurant next to Tivoli used to be awesome.

There is a beautiful deer park a few stops from the centre.

T'int right, t'int fair, t'int proper.

I'm a bit jealous.

I'd google the current museums/attractions covered by the card and work out which ones you want to go to. At one a day. You need loads of time for strolling in Copenhagen, whether for shopping or window shopping, or frequent cafe stops. If you've not been before the Strøget is the mile of show-off shops. Illums Bolighus is a long term favourite of mine. The more interesting shops are generally off this main drag but it's still fun. There's a lego shop so you can take your children 'real Danish lego from Copenhagen'.

You can have a rest from walking on a boat trip around the harbour - lots of interesting stuff in old docks, plus best way to see the Little Mermaid who is, indeed, disappointing.

Hiring bikes is a good plan.

Walking round the Tivoli Gardens after dark is lovely. It's very expensive but it's a great experience with or without children.

My favourite museum is Louisiana, up the coast a bit from Copenhagen in Humlebæk. You can go on the train. It has a beautiful setting on the coast. And lovely but pricey cafe and shop.
