Advice on a Florida Disney Resort

We will be going to Florida May 2016 & I'm feeling really confused by all the hotel choices! We definitely want to stay on property, but can't decide if we should pick a value resort or a moderate resort. They are coming out at about the same price if I add on the dining plan. So have you any recommendations?

You can check these affordable hotels under your budget :

Disney Pop Century Resort
Disney Carribean Beach Resort
Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney's Saratoga Spring Resorts & Spa

We stayed in a value resort - allstar sports. The dining options were rubbish (even more so as we are vegi), although if you are on a dining plan I guess you don't have to eat at the resort you are staying at.

In our hotel there were different food types on offer - pizza, taco, fries etc. But you had to queue up at each different line if you all wanted something different. By the time you had queued up three different times the first person's food was pretty much cold!

The room and roomservice were great, but it did feel a bit like being in a cattle market at meal times. So if you have the option to stay at a resort with more sit down type dining options, which are covered by your dining plan, I'd probably say go for that. Unless you like queuing up several times every meal time...

If they're the same price, then go for moderate. They'll have more spacious rooms.

Would you be paying for the dining plan if youngest for a value hotel? I've never had a dining plan but I've heard that it's almost impossible to get your money's worth from them as there is so much food every day that you won't eat it all.

The Dibb website will have great advice on it for you.

Thanks for the replies. The dining plan is free with a moderate hotel & an upgrade price of £450 in a value hotel which takes it to the same price as the moderate. I'm spending the weekend researching so will get on the dibb websiteGrin

The rooms in the values are quite cosy so for that is go for a moderate. Saratoga springs is a deluxe but often priced as a moderate. Port Orleans is a lovely moderate resort.
