Hi,
Eithad have lost one of my bags, I'm just going through all my receipts as 90% of the stuff in their is less than 12 months old and it's thousands. Is their a point where you are seen to be taking the piss or do you just send in everything?
I mean ok some of it is 12 months old but I wasn't planning and can't afford to replace it.
Thanks

£1000s worth of kit in a hold bag? Wow.

send in all the info you have. Also what do your travel insurers say?

Imnotaslimjim · 23/04/2015 13:41

Wow, I'm assuming its electronics to be worth that much! I would send anything you have receipt wise, if its in there and its there fault its lost, they should be replacing it, no matter its age

It's mainly clothes, bedding, some hair stuff, you'd be amazed how this stuff adds up you really would.

I am. I don't think all the clothes, bedding and 'hair stuff' I own adds up to even £1000, let alone what I could fit in a suitcase.

Newbrummie · 23/04/2015 14:27

32 kgs of clothes wouldn't add up to £1000 ? Are you serious lol

32kg? They didn't lose it, it was so heavy that they left it behind as they couldn't afford the fuel. Wink

were you emigrating????

Newbrummie · 23/04/2015 18:09

Yes we were emigrating

How long has it been missing and do you have a PIR (Property Irregularity Report)?.

An airline has to treat your baggage as lost if it still hasn’t turned up after 21 days.

An airline compensation payout is unlikely to cover the full cost of the items you’ve lost. Unless you can prove that there were brand new items in the case, you’ll probably get second hand value – and in some cases it’s actually more cost effective to claim on your home contents, or travel insurance...even after paying the excess. Weigh up the pros and cons before you decide which route to take on a lost baggage claim.

A word of warning, my bag was lost en route to my honeymoon. I was told by the airline (not Etihad) that I would not be covered for electronics. ( I think they said something like an iPad in a suitcase would be treated as "abandoned".) luckily mine turned up eventually. Hopefully yours will too but check any exclusions just in case.

Newbrummie · 23/04/2015 20:00

We the whole thing is a bit of a disaster because I was fleeing from Australia, had no travel insurance couldn't afford it and of course I only got house contents insurance when I got home. It's been more than 21 days but they are denying having the bag and now none of the numbers are on the system any more. I probably won't get a penny and 90% of it was brand new

I hope it turns up but by the sound of it I need to claim for every pair of knickers ... No electronics thank goodness

blimey.

sorry about the circumstances, but you had £1000s worth of clothes and you couldn't afford travel insurance???

airlines used to do these claims by weight so that won't be good.

fortunately it will be much cheaper to replace it all here in the UK.

Newbrummie · 24/04/2015 12:46

I know but the fuckers will pay me in dollars Wahahah
