Question about Disney Land Paris

ChalkyC · 21/04/2015 12:00

Sorry - probably stupid question but we are looking at going over the second weekend of May half term. If we booked a package arriving on Friday and leaving on Monday would we get park tickets for all four days? It isn't clear...!

Also - will it be massively busy? We've never been so have no idea!

Thanks... Any tips of info gratefully received...

May half term - yes I would imagine it will be very busy, sorry! If you book into one of Disney hotels you get to go in park before they open to public, which helps.

Re park tickets for all the days - thats the standard, you can change it. I wish we had - felt a bit of a waste having park tickets and being travelling for half the day. Would be nice to arrive, get settled in, go to pool, then park the next day. Ring them up, they're really helpful.

ChalkyC · 21/04/2015 12:11

Great thanks I'll call them. We are stuck with school hols so I don't imagine there's such a thing as a quiet time! I'm looking at Davy Crocketts lodge so we can do our own food etc..

Don't bother. We were totally underwhelmed. Kids had the most fun playing in one of their little parks which was not as good as the one at the end of our road! Take them to paris instead.

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 12:18

However your expectations. Then lower them again.
Went in Feb...it was heaving.
Think 40 mins wait for a teacups or aeroplane ride heaving.
Four rides in five hours heaving.
Fast track still 20mins queue heaving.

Now you have done that, think of which rides are desperate to you and which you can fast track.
If you have the chance for two parks in two days bopper opportunity take it, although the studios can be just as hectic.

On the plus side the Magic dreams lights /firework display at closing is just breathtakingly good and the parade is always lovely.

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 12:19

Lower.

Pootles2010 · 21/04/2015 12:19

Ah we went to Davy Crockets, we found it a mixed bag. On one hand its great to be able to do your own food - we went self catering, so got provided with breakfast. They give you loads - baguettes, croissants, ham cheese - enough for breakfast, and a packed lunch every day.

However. They are really, really shabby! The bed and sofa both felt like about to collapse, some of lights didn't work, etc, If you're ok with that, then they're handy. It's also nice being in woods - a bit of peace after a day in Disney, and the pool is good.

On the whole we loved Disney, I'd love to go again.

Pootles2010 · 21/04/2015 12:22

Yes the fireworks are really ace!

I have a confession. We went in term time, and it was great. No more than a ten minute queue on any ride, and walked straight onto a lot of them. DS was four at the time, so only in reception.

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 12:24

The train into Paris is 40 minutes and once there, a batobus ticket for a river trip is decent value, queue for Eiffel tower quicker than disney, old style carousel rip off, wheel okay, louvre free for little ones, decent bakers at top of champs elysees near arc de triomphe.
Also val d'europe next station from Disney has shopping centre and a sea life.

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 12:29

Well done PootlesWink....I was only shocked at the queues as I have been in July and in August and it was never as bad as Feb half term. If it had been in my head that it would be a small world of queues, it would have been okay iyswim, as often your enjoyment of something is down to how high your expectations were in the first place.

ChalkyC · 21/04/2015 13:20

Hmm...ok....maybe legoland then?!?

No Chalky, am not trying to put you offSad maybe if may half term does not coincide with French school hols you might get luckier. But forewarned is forewarned...bearing in mind I had a two year old and four year old on my own, queues were challenging Wink If you are expecting them, maybe not so bad??
Never done Legoland uk, Legoland Germany equally busy but queues seemed quicker. Smile

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 20:17

Forearmed

imjustahead · 21/04/2015 20:23

Efteling in Holland was fun man yrs ago!

I have been to Disney Paris as an adult with mates-a laugh, and with dd when she was 5 and it was fun for two days, but we'd probably enjoy it more when she's older and could go on some rides together.

She wasn't the disney princess type either, so the magical element wasn't for her lol. Spent most of her time on the pirate ship as a pirate.

KERALA1 · 21/04/2015 21:17

After all the hype I found Disney was like a rather tatty funfair with some lame 1990s type rides. Except it cost £200 to get in and there were massive queues (oct half term french schools off too). Emperors new clothes totally.

Luckily only went for a day and saw paris. Would have been a real waste to have gone all that way just for that.

ChalkyC · 21/04/2015 23:37

In going to think about it - my boys are 6 and 4 so I thought the perfect ages. I only started thinking about it because I was looking at legoland and it's £500 to stay in the legoland hotel for ONE NIGHT!! So I thought I'd look at DLO -

Oops - Disney land - and then I thought of loads of questions.

It's sad that it's underwhelming isn't it? It should be amazing!

We went at easter and it was fab. Girls loved it ages 7 and 3. We took lots of snacks to eat in the queues and it was fine. Did have a day in Paris but was so disappointed. We went 10 years ago abs this time it was dirtier than London and full of aggressive beggers. Not the lovely city I remembered. Anyway we had a great time and in the shopping bit there's a lego shop which has lego tables which my dc busy for an hour! Pick the key things you want to do and fit other stuff round that. You won't do it all so don't try Or you'll end up totally stressed.
We stayed in the magic circus hotel which has a free mini bus to the park. Imo the hotels out there are better and cheaper than the named park ones. For dinner one night we went to the hotel bar and bought 2 pizzas at €12 each and shared them between the 5 of us. explorers hotel is also really good with a great pool and indoor soft play.
have fun

StupidBloodyKindle · 22/04/2015 00:12

The light/firework display IS amazing. The queues not so much.
But dragons went at Easter and I would have thought it would be busy then but she liked it. I do think there is an age window...6 and 4 if you are intending to go, is a good age, beyond that there might be eye-rolling once they are older. Your two would probably love the buzz lightyear alien-zapper ride and the peter pan flight. It all comes down to whether they are patient or not (mine aren't) and whether you get early entrance or not. I have also stayed at magic circus, thought it was good value.

StupidBloodyKindle · 22/04/2015 00:14

Interesting re Paris dragons six years ago, in the Summer it was glorious.
February in the grey rain, it did seem dirtier...mainly the metro, but maybe I am just used to the cleanliness of the u-Bahn.

Pootles2010 · 22/04/2015 08:26

We didn't find it underwhelming at all - we really, really loved it. The only thing I guess is that if we'd had queues, my patience may have been somewhat thinner!!

The staff were amazing, really fussing over the kids, making it really magical for them.

m0therofdragons · 22/04/2015 22:28

The buzz lightyear queue was the biggest for us - afraid everyone had to put up with me and my girls singing nursery rhymes so make sure you have entertainment ideas.
The faces on my 3dc during the parade made it totally worth while. They were in awe.

Floralnomad · 22/04/2015 22:35

Legoland does not compare to DLP .
